Roz Chandler, Cut Flower Farmer,Trainer and Mentor on Instagram: "You only need to buy these once🤩👇🏼 As a flower farmer, one of the best things is the incredible benefits of perennials and self-propagating plants. They not only look great and work hard on the farm, but also offer sustainability and cost-efficiency that every gardener can appreciate! When you invest in perennials or plants that seed or divide themselves naturally, you’re making a one-time purchase that keeps on giving. These plants are designed to thrive and multiply, ensuring you have a continuous supply of blooms year after year without the need for constant replanting. Take Echinacea Purpurea, for instance. Once planted, this robust flower will continue to produce more plants, which can be easily relocated to othe
Maryland Cottage Garden Design on Instagram: "Move over PB&J! These flower pairings never fail to yin and yang just right in the garden—or in a bouquet. I’ve had a lot of followers say they really want a garden, but don’t know where to start. Well, this is for you! Regardless of your garden footprint, you always want to combine contrasting texture and size. So think puffy/fluffy, spiked, fuzzy, shiny, wispy, tall/short, evergreen/deciduous. To simplify, those sub categories fall into the overarching categories of spiked, mounded, and fans/fillers. You should have 20% spikes, 40% mounds, and 40% fans and fillers for a balanced garden. You also want trees for added height and interest. Also, consider varieties that bloom together, or don’t if they compete with one another. Chart out the

Galena Berkompas • Urban Flower Farm • Education on Instagram: "These flowers will give you a looooong vase life if cut at the right time! Ranunculus - either cut when the bud feels like a squishy marshmallow, or cut 1-2 days after it fully opens Lisianthus - cut when 1-3 of the flowers on a stem are open Sweet William - cut the stems when 3/4 of the flowers have opened but some are still closed Zinnias - harvest once the stem below the flower head is firm when you wiggle the stem back and forth. If the stem is floppy, the zinnias aren’t mature enough yet Sunflowers - cut your stems when the flower is JUST starting to open but hasn’t opened fully yet. For all of these (and all flowers) change your vase water every 1-2 days to avoid bacteria build up: this will give you maximum vase life

Heirloom Roses on Instagram: "Need to fill a spot in your garden that doesn’t get full sun? 🌥️ Plant a rose that happily will live in partial shade (they still need 4 hours of sunlight). Some roses we’d recommend are: Eden Climber®, Golden Celebration®, Angel Face, Carefree Wonder, and Lyda Rose™. To see all the roses that do well in partial shade, go to our website and click, “Shop All Roses.” Then you’ll find “Partial Shade” under the “Characteristic(s)” filter. 🌹 ❣️ Remember❣️shade-tolerant roses still need 4 hours of sunlight! ☀️"

Shavonne Flegel on Instagram: "DIY Patio Pond, but Make it a Planter! 🌱 Patio ponds are such an easy DIY, and are so fun to make! You don’t need a huge garden space to enjoy this water feature, small patios can experience the joy that having a pond in your yard brings too! 🪴 The best part about this design is that any water that gets oversprayed from your solar fountain goes directly to watering your plants below. Choose plants that love water and sun to ensure the plants stay happy all summer long. 🪴🌱 Tag @plantprojectcanada and @onceuponabungalow if you make a patio pond - We’d love to see what you create! #PlantProjectCanada #diypond #diypatiopond #patiopond #pond #diypond #patioinspo #patio #patioinspiration #garden #gardening #backyard #gardeninspiration #plantsamakepeopleha
Holly | Essential Oil Education on Instagram: "In a new study conducted by New Mexico State University, they tested 20 different essential oils diluted to 10% in a lotion base to determine the efficacy in repelling mosquitoes. Each essential oil was applied to a volunteers’ skin and their arm was placed in a cage with 25 mosquitoes. Complete protection time was determine when the volunteer experienced their first bite. The results above show that plant-based repellents work to prevent mosquito bites in low-risk areas, as long as you reapply them as needed. *Note: Clove and cinnamon essential oil are dermal irritants and sensitizers. Use a lower dilution of these oils if making a topical product. (My recipe is 1.5% dilution and only uses 0.2% of clove oil). **It is also worth noting that
