Years went by and then I taught myself how to produce Internet radio broadcasts. I had stints at three stations, most recently at the excellent Eardrumbuzz Radio. China’s music scene is rich, diverse, and colorful but hardly ever reaches other countries. Those of you into classical music probably heard of Lang Lang and Yo-Yo Ma, if into post-rock then Wang Wen and Chinese Football are names you might be familiar with, and the metalheads out there could possibly have heard of Nine Treasures. But these bands barely scrape the top of the i ...

Nearly each week, the band dummydust, improvises and records a new song in 3 hours or less. Using mostly first takes, lead vocalist and lyricist Lori quickly creates a vocal melody while the other members, Donnie and Chris, add additional percussion, guitars, and other tracks until Lori is ready to sing and record her freshly written lyrics. Then, the song gets a rough mix and after that, it comes to you here! Sometimes, these improvisations get worked into songs that dummydust plays live. G ...
