So he sends himself a telegram advising there is important business at the office and orders the messenger to deliver it at seven that evening. Of course the messenger forgets, and poor Reed puts in an evening of torture hanging pictures and waiting for the message. About midnight the message arrives. Mrs. Reed reads the fake business meeting, routs poor Reed from his good sleep, throws his clothes on, and despite his vehement protests, hustles him out of the house and commands him to go to the office at once. Reed finds peaceful sleep again on a park bench, and, a moment later, an escaping crook throws a bundle of loot beside him, an officer discovers the package and Reed is dragged to the station as being the thief. Unable to obtain bail, poor Reed stretches out on the hard bench and groans miserably as he sees visions of his buxom spouse snoozing peacefully on her downy couch. Written by
