He gets away, ...See moreBill Jones, a tramp, applies for a position at a residence, and the homemaker gives him a job sawing wood. He accepts, but as soon as she goes inside, he helps himself to her husband's clothes that were hanging on the line. He gets away, but is followed by a large crowd. However, Bill manages to get on board a steamer. On the voyage Bill is discovered and is now made to do sailor duty. They stop at China, and Bill is greatly amused. One day while sauntering down one of the streets in China, Bill notes some Chinese tearing the Stars and Stripes. He interferes and is stabbed. One of his shipmates discovers his lifeless body, and brings him on board the ship. While they are mourning his loss, Bill suddenly assumes a sitting posture.
