Dr. Lim is just a simple and retiring country doctor, while his wife is a worldly and frivolous woman. Following a violent quarrel, Dr. Lim decides to leave for a vacation without his wife to have a little peace of mind. He goes to a barrio where he meets Auring, a local beauty with whom he falls in love. Auring also falls for the doctor without the knowledge of his marriage. Dr. Lim returns to his wife a changed man. He becomes more indifferent to his wife. On more than one occasion he asks Clara to end their marital relationship. Clara strongly disagrees, knowing well enough that a separation would mean her social downfall. Meanwhile, Dr. Lim and Auring strengthen their love troth. The former conceals his being a family man and promises Auring an early marriage. Eventually, their relationship reaches a turning point when Auring tells the lovestruck doctor that she is pregnant. On this account, she asks Dr. Lim to marry her at once. Clara learns of her husband's illicit love affair with Auring. She eventually pays Auring a visit and tells her the truth. Auring is disappointed and heartbroken. After learning of Clara's deed, Dr. Lim goes to Auring to explain. Auring, who is now resigned to her fate, tells the doctor not to see her again. A bigger misfortune befalls Dr. Lim. While driving in his car to a patient's home, he meets an accident. He is rushed to a hospital where the doctors say he will stay blind as a result of the injuries. At this juncture, Clara, who foresees the uselessness of her blind husband, strikes up a relationship with a certain Don Jacinto, who of late has been making amorous advances to her. Dr. Lim leaves the hospital, supposedly blind man but the end reveals that his blindness has been just a test to see who between Auring and Clara truly loves him. Written by Robin Estrada See less
