His only source of income comes from taking passengers on scenic flights. Fueled by a cynical worldview and a nihilistic outlook, he grapples with a deep theoretical knowledge of the human soul and fate, yet his scant life experience often leads to conflict. A theoretical philosopher too apathetic to write a book-or even take notes-he senses deep down that his entire life has been a flight from something inevitable that will eventually catch up to him. This realization ignites a mix of fear and curiosity when he encounters another flight operator, one who is strikingly different from any pilot he has met before. What begins as a casual acquaintance blossoms into a friendship and eventually evolves into a mentor-student relationship. As they navigate their shared passion for flying, secrets unfold from a tattered notebook that seems to hold the key to understanding the people they have drawn into their lives. By the film's conclusion, Richard's childhood trauma is revealed, shedding light on the reasons behind his aimless drifting among the clouds.
