Her father Kazutoshi and mother Nanami are hairdressers who run a small beauty salon together. Yui, who has loved drawing since she was little, attends a painting school in town with the aim of going to art college. With the recommendation exam approaching, Yui finishes a painting over one summer, but is told by Kaoru Nasu the instructor of the painting school whom she respects, that something is missing. As she wonders what she lacks, Yui has one thing on her mind. Lately, Kazutoshi's behavior has been strange. He give the shop to Nanami and only does out-of-shop haircutting jobs. One day, on her way to the painting school, Yui witnesses Kazutoshi getting into a one-box car wearing mourning clothes. Suspicious, Yui follows Kazutoshi. The destination was a funeral home. When Yui confronts Kazutoshi who comes out, he reveals that he has started a job called "ending cut", cutting the hair of the deceased before they are put in a coffin. See less
