The interpreter is about a man who is faced with a fairly common dilemma for immigrants: how can one integrate into Swedish society without completely losing one's culture and identity for the sake of it? The interpreter tells a story about an ordinary man's struggle to keep his family together when his entire worldview has been shaken to its foundations. At the same time, the film shows how difficult it is for most non-Muslims to regard Muslims as anything other than religious fanatics. Muhammad is a Muslim and lives an ordinary and seemingly happy life with his wife Fatima and two children. A secret is revealed and a lot changes for Muhammad and the family. Written by SVT See less
