Although the salary is low, a hereditary direct attendant, and because of his occupation, he can obtain confidential information, so he is respected by the feudal lords) is a small villain who, along with Ushimatsu (Shohei Hino), a pickpocket, and Naojiro Kataoka (Hide), a former vassal of the family, works hard to make money and pickpockets. However, in order to help the weak and oppressed on the fringes of society, they beat up powerful lords, hatamoto (feudal lords), and wealthy merchants. With the help of Ochiyo (Kaori Momoi), the daughter of a lumber merchant in Fukagawa, Otaki (Mitsuko Kusabue), the proprietress of Japanese-style restaurant) with whom Soshun is on bad terms, and Ichinojo Kaneko (Yoshio Harada), a masterless samurai, Soshun and his friends hunt down the evil.
