Therefore, Melati is treated as a slave. Melati just accepts the treatment from her mother and sister. She is also friendly to everyone, so Melati is loved. The opposite applies to Mak Bakung and Mawar who are rude, talkative, arrogant and unfriendly. When a prince is hunting and arrives in their village, he falls in love with Melati and asks for her hand in marriage to be his queen.
