Although, being the leader of the Hungarian Military Intelligence, he regularly informed the Third Empire, Japan and Italy of the military plans of the Allies, but, in order to avoid the ultimate collapse, he became a key figure of the attempt to quit the war, a major negotiator of the Anglo-Americans, who was therefore persecuted by the Nazis. After his prison sentence, the Major General returns to Budapest occupied by the Red Army and is put under house arrest, guarded by the newly established political police. His careerist and unqualified interrogator uses all possible hacks, tips and tricks to acquire the knowledge of the Major General recalling the bygone era of gentlemen but the intrigues of Gábor Péter fail soon.
