Artwork Drake's Attic | Uncharted 4 | Naughty Dog
#Theprompt was to create a concept for #NathanDrake s man cave above his home with #Elena. Trying to incorporate iconic things from previous #Uncharted games like Nate's jacket, Tibetan Flags, and various hidden treasures from the game world, I had initially had the hanging sheets of paper as various treasure hunting job's that Nate had to pass on because of him being settled down." #Uncharted4 #athiefsend
Artwork Madagascar Jungle | Uncharted 4 | Naughty Dog
#Madagascar Jungle is an original art print from concept art used in the production of #Uncharted4. The image is made by environment artist #EytanZana for studio #NaughtyDog. This museum-grade limited edition is hand-numbered and comes with an artist-signed certificate of authenticity. #athiefsend
Artwork Antananarivo Bell Tower | Uncharted 4 | Naughty Dog
Players of #Uncharted4 seeing this 'Antananarivo Bell tower' image, made by #NaughtyDog ’s concept artist #NickGindraux, will vividly remember climbing the tower’s interior, and crushing it later on, in one of the most memorable scenes in gaming history. To properly deconstruct a bell tower in a video game, you need an intimate knowledge of its construction. To make it believable the concept and 3D modelling teams study properties of bells, construction beams, ropes and scaffolding. #athiefsend
Artwork Red Earth | Uncharted 4 | Naughty Dog
The #island of #Madagascar is one of the key locations in video game #Uncharted4 in the search for the pirate treasure of #CaptainAvery. The artists at #NaughtyDog tried a range of different looks for Madagascar’s unique landscape. From lush and full scenes to dry and arid places, the distinctive granite boulders and intense-looking red earth provided *cough* fertile ground for the artists to explore the scenery. #athiefsend
Artwork Tew's Porch | Uncharted 4 | Naughty Dog
#NaughtyDog artists, while producing #Uncharted4, work on more than meets the eye. The entrance to Tew’s Mansion, made by Naughty Dog concept artist #JohnSweeney, is a case in point. Apart from creating a mansion that would look convincingly old and worn, the script for Uncharted 4 informed #Sweeney of the presence of snipers in and around the building. And so the artist considered interesting cover options while drawing this work. #athiefsend
Artwork Undiscovered | Uncharted 4 | Naughty Dog
With the enormous bounty of exotic destinations in #Uncharted4, you may be surprised there were more to choose from than appeared in the game. One of these was an #Asian #jungle, where #NathanDrake would explore time-worn temples and #ruins, inspired by the ancient monuments of #Cambodia and #Bali. In the end, this powerful work by #NaughtyDog environmental artist #EytanZana did not make it into the game, but served as early exploration of what Uncharted 4 could be. #athiefsend
Artwork Antananarivo Car Chase | Uncharted 4 | Naughty Dog
The #Madagascar capital #Antananarivo, known for the steep slopes of the hills, its heart-shaped lake, its colorful people and lively urban markets, fits #Uncharted4 like a glove. #NaughtyDog artists like #NickGindraux, who drew the 'Car Chase' image, had good fun bringing 'an almost campy feel' to the Madagascar chase sequence of the script. #athiefsend
Artwork Antananarivo Vista | Uncharted 4 | Naughty Dog
The action-packed sequences of #Uncharted4 ’s #Madagascar chapters leave the player little room to understand the layout of the city of Antananarivo. Scenes like Nick Gindraux’ 'Climbing the Bell tower' remind us of how players are properly introduced to landmark buildings like the large, brightly lit clock tower #NathanDrake is climbing here. #athiefsend
Artwork Coming Clean | Uncharted 4 | Naughty Dog
The communication of emotion has always been a strong point in #Uncharted games, and #Uncharted4 is no exception. In this great concept art work by #NaughtyDog artist #HyoungTaekNam we see #Elena angry at #Nathan and #Sully, after learning they are back to their dangerous ways: #treasure hunting and gun fighting in various remote locations. You can almost hear her shout at Nathan about broken promises, the two men awkwardly exposed in their hideout. #NaughtyDog #athiefsend
Artwork The Colony | Uncharted 4 | Naughty Dog
The pirates’ colony found by #NathanDrake in #Uncharted4 was carefully brought to life by the #NaughtyDog team. Color and black-and-white shots of the colony, like this detailed sketch by Naughty Dog artist #RobhRupel, established the look and feel of the village and explored possible spaces like dilapidated taverns and houses, and exotic props like abandoned loot (note the clock in the middle), casks of whiskey et cetera. #athiefsend
Artwork New Devon | Uncharted 4 | Naughty Dog
The flooded valley near Captain Avery’s mansion is probably the most surreal of places #NathanDrake encounters in adventure video game #Uncharted4. This early concept of that place shows old towers that peer out from the water like creepy sentinels. This concept image is made by #NaughtyDog environmental artist #EytanZana. The sunken town has an ominous feel to it, a warning perhaps: next, #NathanDrake will find himself in a pirate ship graveyard before entering Uncharted 4’s story climax.
Artwork On the Beach | Uncharted 4 | Naughty Dog
Before #Uncharted4 chapters 'At Sea' and 'Marooned' were completed, the #NaughtyDog team wanted to get the feel for the deserted tropical islands right before #Sam and #NathanDrake would hit them. This beach view by Naughty Dog concept artist #EytanZana, served this purpose. The image communicates the beauty and tranquility of a holiday island but also has a touch of melancholy to it: the beach setting is also present in the Epilogue chapter of Uncharted 4. #athiefsend
