Hey here's some free Sims games. Don't pay for digital media in this economy.
Here is also all non-PC sims games. As well as links to a variety of emulators:
i know that life isn't a race and that everyone does things on their own schedule and that i shouldn't compare myself to other people who haven't lived the same life that i have and overcome the same obstacles i have. BUT
Okay but can anyone articulate the mindset that leads older people to feel like they NEED to know people's gender identity all the time? Like what's going on there
Cause it feels like I've had a hundred xonversations with cis straight people around 40-60 years old that goes like
Person: Did you see that?
Me: See what?
Person: That. It, him, whatever they're called
Me: (Sees a femme with masculine features)
Me: What about them
Person: Well what is that? He's dressed in women's clothes, so is he-it, they- What does that mean?
Me: I mean. If you're concerned about pronouns you can probably ask
Person: But do I call it a Mister or a miss?
Me: Well uh. That depends on what they tell you but "them" is usually safe.... but based on their makeup, hair, and heels I don't think they'd be mad if you assumed thry were a lady
Me: So like. I'd say she's probably just. Here for the event
Person: That's fine, I get that, I don't have a problem with trans people, I just don't get how you're supposed to know
Person: Like how do you know if someone is transsexual or just cross dressing?
Me: Uhhhhhhhh
Me: I mean
Me: I don't know. Any cross dressers. Who would be offended by being pronoun'd by their outfit. But like.
Me: I guess if you choose wrong. And they correct you. Then you just.... apologize and use what they tell you?
Me: .... Do you plan on talking to them?
Person: No
Me: Then why d. Why does it matter
Person: I'm just trying to understand
Me: And that's great! But like. You don't need to
Person: What
Me: You don't need to. Necessarily. Understand. You know?
Person: Huh
Me: They're here for the event. You don't have to interact with them. In two hours they'll go home and you'll never see them again
Person: I'm just confused
Me: You're allowed to be confused
Me: You can stay confused
Me: It's not illegal
#yes they do#but the trick is to wear them while you're just sitting around the house#because even that will help stretch out the leather#then every thirty minutes get up and pace#(ive broken in three pairs of docs this way)#repeat until your feet start to hurt and then take them off for the rest of the day#also: make sure to work in your toebox crease by just standing on your tiptoes for a few seconds to a minute#i find that stretching out the toebox specifically hrlps the most wrt pain#and then when you finally feel comfortable enough to go outside with your docs on#cover your heel with blister bandages because that's the next crease you're going to need to work into the leathear and it only comes#after walking a lot#also: at one point you will think that your docs are broken-in enough to go on a really long walk#this is the devil speaking#it is too soon#and another thing: conditioning the leather with wax will make the leather softer and help stretch them out as well#so drop some money on the wonder basalm (or a similar leather conditioner) and condition your boots every couple of days
@cordsycords bringing some priceless advice here
are we in a toxic relationship with doc martens
The trick is to buy from Solovair not Doc Martin.
Those stories you hear and the old Doc Martins you see that will last stupidly long? Yeah that was before Doc Martin cut costs, moved production away from skilled makers and dropped the quality of the materials substantially.
However: the people who made the old Doc Martins looked around and said 'we have the skills and the factories are still here...why not?' and make boots and shoes of the same quality they always did.
It’s crazy and fucked up that being yourself is actually the solution.
It’s like. When I was told to “just be yourself” as a kid I thought it was a passive thing. Like oh easy I just have to sit here and be myself. but the reason so many people think that “being yourself” is bullshit advice is because you actually have to make active choices to do this and it WILL make your life way more fun. You have to wear t-shirts of bands that were popular ten years ago because you like them. You have to do your hair in a way that you find cute or comfortable even if it’s “so nineties”. If your friend says a food you enjoy is gross to them, you can’t be afraid to admit you casually disagree. You have to do hobbies that you’re interested in even if you’re bad at them and you cant feel like you have to get good at something before you tell people it’s an activity you do. You have to read manga and comic books in public and get piercings your relatives think are unattractive. You don’t have to tell people you dislike that you dislike them, but you don’t have to give them your time and attention either. You have to rewatch that kids show you’re nostalgic for even if you’re in your 30s. You have to change your name if you hate it, even if only a few close friends can know. You have to get fun girly drinks at the bar. You have to order hot chocolate when you don’t like coffee and black coffee when you don’t like sweet things. I am still bad at practicing this but it is the only way to make it all tolerable.
the reason art with ai at the creative helm will never get traction in any long term or meaningful trot is because art is more than what is in the text of the book, or notes of the song, or runtime of the movie. art is whats OUTSIDE of the medium, a performance piece between creator and experiencer
i say this all the time and i think most buckaroos think im off in the clouds as eccentric ART WEIRDO (theyre NOT WRONG) but in a practical BUSINESS sense what i am saying is true. folks want to pretend art is in some lab where art and artist and viewer are separate things. but they never will be
art exists outside of a vacuum. it is not static. it grows and lives and evolves based on culture its in and who is experiencing it. whether you know it or not, what you LIKE or DISLIKE has just as much to do with the story AROUND the art than the art itself.
you carry what you know about me to my tinglers, you carry what you know about the beatles to the beatles, you even carry what you DONT KNOW to artists and THAT changes your experience. the STORY outside of the art is unavoidable because the lack of a story is still a story
so what does this have to do with ai art? my point is, the STORY of ai generated art is potentially interesting when it FIRST happens, or when its a one of one, but when it is co-opted by corporations to make slop, or when you consider the ethics of data scraping and theft, the story becomes sour
in other words, REGARDLESS OF WHAT AI GENERATED ART ‘MAKES’, the STORY outside of the story is derivative and unethical. what is even more important, and the greatest problem of all, is that its very very BORING. ‘oh wonderful someone made a painting from a prompt CANT WAIT to dive into this world’
so fundamentally these projects from tech goofs only serve to show that they have absolutely no understanding of art in the first place. the starry night is not just a painting, it is a three point tether between van gogh, the painting and us, which is constantly breathing and moving and living
if i was to give advice to any artist about how to stand out in their field i would say this: figure out what YOUR STORY is, not just within your chosen medium, but OUTSIDE of any medium. THAT STORY is your art, and it is infinitely cosmically unique. USE IT. EMBRACE IT. that is your power buckaroo
need y'all to know that my friend and i have been looking at fabio's body of work for the past 30 minutes. this is the guy that does the tattoo'd classics sculptures. hyper-realistic tires with weathered tread. fucking. rust textured correctly on nails??? this shit is insane please look at this
An EXCELLENT animation joke here!
Please note that all of this has been animated on 1’s(which is to say that each drawing is only being held for 1 frame), where most anime is animated on 3’s(each drawing held for 3 frames).
This makes the animation look especially fluid, but is extremely time consuming to do - even classic Disney cartoons tended to animate on 2’s as much as possible!
Also worth noting is the beautiful flow of S to C curves in the long hair - this is another thin that is often heavily simplified in anime.
What’s more, the entire shot is complicating the animation - the low angle with multiple head turns, the way the hand interacts with the hair, and the extreme foreshortening of the hand as it moves towards the camera.
Lovely animation combined with a wonderful awareness of the skills and pitfalls of the industry!
(This clip is sourced from an anime called Joshiraku, and the rest of it appears to be animated in a more traditional anime style)
IT'S TIME! The Far-Fetched Animated Pilot Kickstarter has officially LAUNCHED! To kick things off, here's a first look at our fully animated series opening!
