H.R. Giger

Giger’s work is widely known for macabre (sometimes sexual) scenes of humans and machines fused together. He is the father of the 'Biomechanical'. He worked as a set designer for films such as Species, Poltergeist II, Dune, and most famously Alien. His work in Alien won him the 1979 Academy Award for special effects. And in 2013, he was named to the Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame. On May 12th, 2014, H.R. Giger died from complications due to a slip and fall. H.R. Giger 1940-2014
