MY 2025 FINANCIAL GOALS 👇
MY 2025 FINANCIAL GOALS 👇 💸 Max out my 401K and backdoor Roth IRA 📈 Invest $60k+ (not including retirement) 💻 Get a raise (and promo?) at work 💰 Earn $20k from side hustles (including @organized.finance) ✈️ Spend $4k on travel (my tendency is to save save save, which is good most of the time, but it also means I need to be super intentional about making sure I *do* spend money on the things that bring me value) 🎁 I'd also love to see my net worth hit $500k in 2025 (currently hovering around $350k), but I know that that's dependent on external factors like the stock market - so I won't be disappointed if it doesn't happen 👀 💭 What financial goals are you setting for 2025? Invest more in 2025: NEW account limits!
PSA for the US folks! And a few notes: 🏦 The $23,000 limit for the 401k/403b is only the employee contribution. Employers can contribute on top of that. 👩‍💼 I haven't included catch‑up contribution limits for people aged 50 and over here, so please look that up if you fall in that age group. 👀 There's also an odd new category the IRS is creating called the "super catch up", which only applies to those ages 60 - 63 🤔 As always, do your own research before making financial decisions! 💰 Will you be increasing your contributions to any of these accounts in 2025?
Roth IRAs (and other tax-advantaged accounts like 401(k)s and HSAs) are underrated tools for retirement planning imo.

Some things to keep in mind about Roth IRAs:

⬆️ Roth IRAs have income limits, so if your income is above a certain threshold (starting at $146,000 for single filers and $230,000 for married filing jointly in 2024), your eligibility to contribute to a Roth IRA begins to phase out.

🏦 Roth IRA withdrawals are tax-free in retirement *if* certain conditions are met, like being at least 59.5 years old and having held the account for at least five years.

✋ Each year, the IRS sets a contribution limit for your Roth IRA. In 2024 and 2025, the contribution limit is $7k for those under age 50.

If you're interested in opening up a Roth IRA, please do your own research first!

I didn't know giving birth was so expensive?!
I am NOT pregnant (and I don't plan to be any time soon 🤞) but as I've been forced to finally acknowledge that I'm now in my "late 20s", I HAVE been thinking a lot more about what it would look like to be pregnant and raise a child. So I did some research into how much it costs to give birth and I was shocked! Let me know what you think about these numbers 🤯👀

should you save in your 20s?
Do you think people in their 20s and 30s should be saving for retirement? 👵👴 Turns out a shocking percentage of people in their 50s and 60s are financially unprepared for retirement, and it's important to save early so that future you has more options. And I'm NOT saying you should be extremely frugal and hoard all your money away and never spend a dime, but you *can* find a balance between saving & spending. What works for me is being clear on what I value and what I don’t value, and aligning my spending to that. For example, I don’t really get anything out of having a fancy car, so I choose not to spend a lot of money on a fancy car. I *do* get a lot of value out of traveling, so I choose to save on the car and spend on the travel instead. Do what works for you!
2024 bank bonuses 🏦
Have you tried bank account churning? Similar to credit card travel hacking, bank account churning involves opening up new bank accounts to get their sign-up offers and closing them/moving your money out of them once you've received the bonus. It can be an easy way to make money with your money 💰 Some things to keep in mind: 💸 Always check for fees before signing up for a new account. For example, Chase checking has a $12 monthly fee if you don't satisfy some balance requirements. ✏️ Keep track of where your money is! Bank account churning only works if you're organized and know how many accounts you have and how much money is in each. I use my net worth tracker to keep track of all my accounts.
