Buying white bookcases when we were going to paint them black. Unfortunately we hadn’t made the decision of whether or not we were going to paint them yet, so we went with white since we thought we might leave them white. If we had known for sure we’d be painting them black, we would have bought the dark brown color since any scratches wouldn’t be as noticeable. 2. Buying glass panel doors then trying to paint them. Unfortunately when we painted the original glass panel doors we purchased for this project, paint seeped in between the glass and the frames unevenly. IKEA PIECES:
4 HAVSTAS,
8 billy extenders
8 short billys

All secured to studs in the wall and each other.

My ceilings are 9 ft. I had to build my own base because using the HAVSTA base would’ve been too tall. If you have 8 ft ceilings, you can buy the HAVSTA with the base and skip the extenders.

You gotta flip that Billy upside down. That’s a key ingredient to get a taller crown molding at the top.

I added extra trim to have it look more custom and seamless. Lots of caulk, wood filled and bins primer shellac too.

I wanted it to look like a big piece of furniture so I did not add pieces to fill in the gaps on the side.
