Hannah Zimmermann on Instagram: "Tinker Tailor - Singing Game Have your heard of the song Tinker Tailor? I learned it from Kristin Vogt during my Kodaly levels, and it’s a staple in my classroom for quarter rest! But I changed the words to match a storybook (Rub a Dub Dub) I have in my classroom. Check for original lyrics and my lyrics below 😊 This game is a HOOT, and I love how it really reinforces that a quarter rest gets one whole beat! I actually have multiple games I play with this song, but this is the last one we end on and the kids really can’t get enough of it 💰 Original lyrics: Tinker tailor Soldier sailor Rich man poor man Beggar man thief My lyrics: Butcher baker Candlestick maker Rich man poor man Beggar man thief *Side note: a lot of people subdivide this song dif Fall Music Activities, Kindergarten Music Lessons, Music Games For Kids, Preschool Music Activities, Original Lyrics, Music Activities For Kids, Singing Games, Group Games For Kids, Kindergarten Music

Hannah Zimmermann on Instagram: "2 4 6 8 - seasonal dance 🌸 I love the movement that goes with this as well as how easy this is to decode rhythms (quarter notes and eighth notes or for kinder, long and short-short)! This is always my first dance for kinder in a longways set and they LOVE getting to be the head couples that sashays down the center 👍 Here are the lyrics: 2 4 6 8 Meet me at the garden gate If I’m late, don’t wait 2 4 6 8 Here is the movement: 4 steps forward 4 high fives 4 steps back Head couple sashays down the center #elementarymusiceducation #elementarymusic #elementarymusicteacher #elementary music rocks #iteachmusic #fisdfineartsleads #fisdelevate #musiced #musiceducation #musiceducationmatters #musicteacher #musicteachersofinstagram #kodalymethod #kodalyinspi Dance Activities For Children, Music Theme Activities, Preschool Movement Songs, Music Math Activities Preschool, Easy Dance Steps, Kids Music Activities, Music Movement Activities For Kids, Children Dancing, Music Activities For Preschoolers

This week I used a brain teaser routine to practice steady beat and meter combined with coordination, memory, focus, and persistence with grades 2-5. In this video, you can see one of my 2nd grade classes performing at the end of our lesson. It took a few practices 🤪😁, but they did it!! The smiles and pride at the end... Absolutely heart-melting. My heart is full!

This routine is inspired by the Haitian dance called “Ti Kabrit”. I saw a YouTube video a few years ago, their routine was way more complicated and they used different music. Since then, I’ve always wanted to try it in my class, so I created this easy twist with a clear count of the beats. We liked to count the 4 beats in the same row Haitian Dance, 2nd Grade Class, Elementary Music Class, Pe Ideas, My Heart Is Full, Elementary Music Lessons, Elementary Music Education, Elementary Music Teacher, Heart Is Full
