Thick crown molding on cabinets

We had custom crown made for the top of the kitchen cabinets and now it's time to buy crown molding for the rest of the floor for my painter to come. In cabinetry design, one of the most common design details added is crown molding that is mounted to the top of kitchen or bathroom cabinets.

I'm assuming so? Our cabinets will run right into one of our rooms. Should the crown match/be seamless? I can't seem to find any pictures. Thanks!

Hi everyone, So I’m Remodling my home and I want to know if this was done correctly, I personally think that the straight crown molding should be flush and even with the cabinets. Am I wrong?

Before AFTER When we first moved into our home we had the builders add a drywall soffit above all the cabinetry with plans that we would one day add crown and other trim work to it. While we had the dining room finish work done we had them complete the kitchen soffit as well. The biggest change in my recent kitchen makeover was the cabinetry. We had basic builder grade birch cabinets that were in great condition. There really wasn't anything wrong with them, they just weren't the tall custom cabinets I was longing for. Since new custom cabinets were not in the budget, I improvised by giving my builder grade cabinets a custom look with paint, moldings and trim. The cabinets were lacking style , just square boxes so we overlapped wood trim at the top for a shaker version of crown mold to go with our new doors!
