Balloon Angioplasty: An angioplasty is a procedure performed on patients with blocked or clogged coronary arteries. StarClose SE Vascular Closure System. This is a cool little device that some cardiologists prefer to use to stop bleeding after a cath procedure. Specifically, it's an extravascular solution for diagnostic endovascular catheterization procedures utilizing a 5F or 6F procedural sheath. It's purpose is to expedite vascular closure of the femoral artery access site, with goal of reducing times to hemostasis (stop bleeding), ambulation (move again), and dischargeability (leave the cath lab).
High Blood Pressure. This piece summarizes strategies to control blood pressure, including: understanding blood pressure numbers and cardiovascular risk, reducing sodium consumption, selecting and using a home blood pressure monitor, and understanding medications. From the PCNA.

A Coronary Stent is a tiny wire mesh tube used to prop open an artery during angioplasty. The stent stays in the artery permanently. The stent will also improve blood flow to the heart muscle and will relieve chest pain (angina). From the American Heart Association.

Cholesterol Video from the AHA. Cholesterol is a soft, fat-like substance found in the bloodstream and in all your body's cells. Your body makes all the cholesterol it needs. Low-density lipoprotein (LDL or 'bad') cholesterol can join with fats and other substances to build up in the inner walls of your arteries. The arteries can become clogged and narrow, and blood flow is reduced. High-density lipoprotein (HDL or 'good') carries harmful cholesterol away
Cardiac Catheterization (cardiac cath) is a procedure that examines the inside of your heart's blood vessels using special X-rays called angiograms. Dye visible by X-ray is injected into blood vessels using a thin hollow tube called a catheter. From the American Heart Association.
