Someone told us that selroti must be made with fennel seed for better taste. Well this #Dasai we tried making our favorite selroti with fennel seed and it did turn out good. Here’s a brief visual guide in case you want to try it yourself.
You are walking in the alleys and suddenly you are assaulted with the sweet aroma of freshly prepared ‘selroti’ somewhere. Yet another reminder of how delicious this festival of #Dasai is.
If your mouth has not started watering already then it is probable that you have not tasted the legendary ‘dalle’ chilly pickle and lemon pickle. Almost every kitchen in the hills of #Darjeeling & #Sikkim is stocked with these pickles… a must have local delicacy.
Churpi, the fermented cottage cheese is a chewy time pass. If you are eating it for the first time then you might find it tasteless but hold on, once you acquire the taste you will love it.

We love Gundruk as soup but we also enjoy it as a hot pickle. It is chewy & the smoky fermented flavor is just too good.

If you befriend a local and pay a visit to his/her place, you'll surely come across Squash plants on the way. That is because we absolutely love squash and devour every part of it right from fruit, root to the shoot!

If you want to be adventurous and go for an absolutely exotic taste then try dry fish salsa (Sukuti ko Achar). We have acquired the taste and absolutely love this paste... can't promise you anything yet, but yeah this will be an experience that you'll remember.
Gundruk soup is made of fermented green leaves/radish. It has a strong taste but many first timers also find it appealing. This soup also helps digestion.
