James Lipton

poet, talk show host, writer, teacher (1926-2020)

James Louis Lipton (September 19, 1926 – March 2, 2020) was an American writer, composer, movie, television actor and host of the television show Inside the Actors Studio. He created the show in 1994 and hosted it until 2018.

Lipton was born on September 19, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan and studied at Central High School and Wayne State University for a year.[1] Lipton was married to Nina Foch from 1954 until they divorced in 1959. He married Kedakai Turner in 1970.

Lipton died of bladder cancer at his home in New York City on March 2, 2020 at the age of 93.[2]
