Okay but this scene? hot
[ID: A fake screenshot of a forum post titled "Cavaliers hate how little it takes for us to be happy." posted by TheReverendDaughter in NinthLivingSpace. Its a picture of an empty black room with nothing but a stained mattress on the floor with a rumpled blanket and a skull on the floor beside it. A reply by SexPal reads "Nothing wrong with keeping it simple. But the least I'd do is add a bed frame". TheReverendDaughter replies "i dont deserve a bed frame". End ID]

I copy pasted parts of this but I do hand letter everything, because while I'm trying to work easier as I'm chronically ill, I am still chronically stupid

WAIT HOLD ON.
At the beginning of HtN when Mercy demands Harrow's age, we're all pretty well in agreement she was really asking this was the result of their efforts to open the Tomb, yeah?
But somehow it just clicked for me. The emotion that plays across her face and through her whole body, the "unalloyed, full-bore relief"... Yes it would be a problem on many levels if John's kid showed up...
But also, until the very end of the book, she fully believed that kid would be hers. She didn't know everything Wake had dealt with in the end. I mean I've known this but it just clicked in this context. Based on everything she knew, if Harrow had been That kid, she would have been John and Mercy's daughter, LIKE... YEAH I fucking BET confirming she wasn't was some intense fucking relief!!
