Typically, shoe tying is a skill I’d start teaching around 5-6 years old, when it’s functional for things like starting kindergarten or playing sports.

✨But here’s the point: milestones for self-help skills are all about exposure and practice.

If a 7-year-old doesn’t know how to tie shoes, they’re not “behind” if they’ve never been taught.
