Things to note: In some cases you’ll need to install shelves over preexisting tile without removing any of the tile itself. This is a great method. Instead of tearing out the entire bar of our Ravenna I kitchen, we decided to salvage and paint a portion of the cabinetry, add floating shelves, a tile backsplash and sconces above. We removed the element that was really making the space feel dated…the angled wall, and replaced the rest of the cabinetry with a freestanding hutch. Is it easier to just tear everything out and start from scratch? 100% yes. Is it more rewarding to find creative solutions to challenges, while keeping what we can?...
