Can the Lego brick be made from discarded plastic bottles? For over 3 years Lego has been developing a new brick made from PET (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic taken from used bottles. Lego has tested over 250 variations and hundreds of other plastic formulations. Although a successful prototype has been made, it will take further development before potentially moving the new and more sustainable brick into production.
