Young Guns Studio | Portfolio Building on Instagram: "How to draw the head: Loomis Method Pt. 11 1️⃣ Start by drawing an ellipse and a sphere. 2️⃣ To locate the ear, draw a cross within the ellipse. Wrap lines around the face to map out the eyebrows, nose, and forehead. 3️⃣ Complete your drawing with a center line and a jawline, noting that the face is divided evenly into thirds between the forehead, nose, and chin. Pro Tip: The one line that makes the head more volumetric starts from the ear and wraps down the cheek, ending at the chin. Want to learn more of these tips and more? The dark eyelashes draw the viewer’s gaze directly to the iris, establishing a compelling focal point. At times my mind has been completely absorbed by the shapes of the plants, their movements in the wind, and the different shadows they cast with higher and lower sun. If you think you can’t draw, please give this a go! #artist #drawing #drawwithme #plants #shadows #natureconnection"
Sean Anetsberger on Instagram: "The underpainting is a traditional technique that has been used for hundreds of years. It’s been used to assist with multiple issues. 1) It creates a value tone so that you can more easily push things into light or dark to find relative contrast. 2) It gets rid of all the white which makes the painting feel more complete in the awkward stages. 3) it allows light to bounce off the bottom layer to create a more luminous and vibrant effect in your painting. 4) it can be left in the finished piece where it fits perfectly in value and chroma which makes an interesting read of the painting. When you can see all the steps of the painting, the quality of the surface is more dynamic. 5) underpainting is a great way to feel like you got a lot done on your giant c

Rather, focus on the values that you see and draw values where you see them in order to create the sense of volume that makes up the form. . . . #drawing #artdrawing #drawingchallenge #drawingart #drawings #charcoaldrawing #drawingoninstagram #drawingofinstagram #drawings #drawingpractice #drawingprocess #drawingtips #drawinghelp #drawingtipsandtricks #howtodraw #pencildrawing #drawingartist #portraitdrawing"

Sean Anetsberger on Instagram: "Lines are so much more than darkening an area. They describe form. They show you what direction a plane is facing. Using line with clear intention strengthens the sculptural quality of your drawings. By using lines and playing them with even spacing on top of the form you also gain a better understanding of how a form sits in 3 dimensional space. Learning how to space your lines and draw confidently takes a really long time when you just try to draw a masterpiece every time. And we all know how much it sucks to mess up that masterpiece because the lines aren’t lining. The drawing drills course goes over how to use and control the movements of drawing with line. It helps you gain confidence so that every line you put down looks intentional. Tap through
Valerie McKeehan on Instagram: "Making a painting ✨glow✨ is like performing a magic trick! (And it’s simpler than you may think!) I’m sharing my best tips thanks to @blickartmaterials #sponsored Step 1: Add the darks in your scene. You can’t have the light without the dark. Step 2: Think about the area surrounding the sun. You’ll want to warm up this area. Step 3: Use warm + saturated hues. Saturated oranges and yellows will create a glowing base Step 4: Use a lighter value mark on top of the warm, saturated base you created (you don’t want to cover the base completely) Step 5: Add light to the land or wherever the glow of the sun would be touching. This makes the glow believable. The light changes everything it touches. Step 6: Add one final pop of white into your sun for the last bit
