1970s Fashion - Glam and Glitz

Women found new freedom in wearing clothing like baggy trousers, jackets, vests, ties and hats. They still wore mini skirts but some preferred midi or maxi skirts. The hippie inspiration from 1960s still carried though the fashion of both genders. Men wore more colourful and bright, fitted outfits with long har. Bell-bottoms trousers were very popular.- showy 'disco' style of dress. Musicians brought new subcultures such as punk rock and glam rock, leading to more rebellious fashion.

In punk fashion, they often wore leather jackets; shirts and blazer with customised studs and spikes , fishnet stockings, body piercings, bracelets. The female punks were against traditional looks and would combine feminine items with hardcore chunky masculine items. Both men and women had heavy make up and crazy hair.

Tinted round sunglasses Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, John Lennon — the hippie rockers of this decade made tinted lenses a hot trend during the ‘70s. Peace, love, and rose-colored shades, baby — these sunglasses were a must-have for the flower power generation. Musicians today, like Bono and Elton John, are still fond of wearing these shades during performances.
