(Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) and Ryparida wallacei (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) were dominant insects in mangrove ecosystem. • The structure community of insects in the denser canopy was higher compared to young mangrove.

Struktur Komunitas dan Distribusi Temporal Serangga pada Persemaian Mangrove Cengkrong Watulimo Trenggalek. Skripsi, Jurusan Biologi, Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam, Universitas Negeri Malang. Pembimbing: (I) Dr. H. Hadi Suwono, M.Si (II) Drs. H. Agus Dharmawan, M.Si Kata kunci: Struktur komunitas, Distribusi temporal, Serangga, Persemaian mangrove Cengkrong. Ekosistem mangrove merupakan salah satu tipe ekosistem yang tumbuh di daerah pasang surut, ekosistem ini memiliki fungsi yang sangat penting. Selain berfungsi sebagai kawasan konservasi pesisir, ekosistem mangrove juga memiliki nilai ekonomis yang tinggi sehingga perlu adanya konservasi yang berkelanjutan. Rendahnya kualitas bibit mangrove di kawasan mangrove Cengkrong diakibatkan oleh serangan serangga yang merugikan, hal tersebut menjadi latar belakang dari peneliti untuk melakukan penelitian ini. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskripsi eksplorasi. Pengumpulan data menggunakan Aspirator dan Swing net, pengambilan data dengan tiga kali ulangan. Penentuan kuadran dengan Purpossive sampling dengan tiga kali pengambilan. Kuadran memiliki ukuran 1m x 1m dengan sisi ditutupi jaring. Berdasarkan sampel serangga yang ada, maka diperoleh 7 ordo, 14 famili, 16 genus, dan 18 spesies serangga. Terdapat tigajenis serangga yang memiliki peranan penting dalam keberhasilan persemaian mangrove, yaitu Dendroctonus pseudotsugae, Atractomorpha crenulata, dan Patanga japonica, ketiga spesies tersebut bersifat merugikan (fitofagus). Data distribusi temporal menunjukkan jumlah kunjungan serangga yang paling tinggi dijumpai pada pengamatan siang hari. Dari hasil regresi antara INP dengan abiotik menunjukkan tidak ada hubungan antara faktor abiotik dengan INP serangga pada persemaian, faktor utama yang mempengaruhi adalah melimpahnya bibit mangrove sebagai makanan serangga

The effect of pesticide residue (acaricide, insecticides, herbicides, and fungicides) commonly us... more The effect of pesticide residue (acaricide, insecticides, herbicides, and fungicides) commonly used in oil palm plantations was assessed to pollinating weevil, Elaeidobius kamerunicus under laboratory condition. The study showed that all insecticides and acaricide in the spikelet were harmful to the weevil, causing mortality ranged from 37% to 100% application. Dimehypo, carbosulfan and deltamethrin cause 100% mortality at 10 hr after treatment (HAT) followed by fipronil, acephate, pyridaben, imidacloprid and Bacillus thuringiensis cause 87%, 83%, 60%, 40% and 37% mortality at 10 HAT respectively. Our study also revealed that all herbicides recidu in the spikelet had a negative impact on the weevil. Metsulfuron-methyl caused the highest mortality (83%) of the weevils death, followed by triclopyr, ammonium glufosinate, glyphosate, and fluroxyphyr caused 63%, 43%, 33% and 30% at 10 HAT, respectively. Falcataria moluccana, commonly known as albizia or sengon, is a native plant of Maluku, New Guine... more Falcataria moluccana, commonly known as albizia or sengon, is a native plant of Maluku, New Guinea Island, the Bismarck Archipelago and the Solomon Islands. Sengon trees are cultivated in many areas, including Java and Sumatra, mostly for raw material of plywood. Despite its importance for timber production, information regarding the insects associated with sengon saplings in Java is very limited. The objective of this study was to identify the insects associated with sengon saplings in Bogor. The study was conducted in Carangpulang village, Bogor, West Java. Observations of insect herbivores were made every 2 weeks between 14 and 32 weeks after planting. Fifty-one species of herbivorous insects from 26 families and 4 orders were collected from sengon saplings. Leaf eating insects belonging to the order Lepidoptera were the dominant herbivores. Three spot grass yellow butterfly, Eurema blanda (Lepidoptera: Pieridae) larvae was the most abundant insect found on the saplings, causing heavy leaf damage.

The controlling of invasive species using biological control is an effective method. The purpose of this study was to determine the phytophagous insects on albizia from Java and Hawaii in seedling in Bogor. The experiment was conducted in Carangpulang, Dramaga, Bogor. The experiment was arranged in a completely randomized block design using seed origin as a treatment (albizia Java and Hawaii) with 4 replicates. Total number of tree sample was 160 trees. Observations were conducted every 2 weeks until 32 weeks after planting. Identification of insects was conducted in the Laboratory of Insect Biosystematics, IPB. Bagworm is a defoliating insect in oil palm plantations that recently became the main problem sin... more Bagworm is a defoliating insect in oil palm plantations that recently became the main problem since reported can decrease the production significantly. Metisa plana, Mahasena corbetti, Pteroma pendula are types of bagworms can be found in several areas in Indonesia. The objective of this study was to identify bagworm species (Lepidoptera: Psychidae) on oil palm plantation in PT Bumitama Gunajaya Abadi in Pangkalan Bun, Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. A total of 75 bagworms based on survey results from 12 oil palm plant blocks (± 360 hectares) were collected and brought to the Pundu Entomology Laboratory for identification. The bagworm was identified as Manatha conglacia known as an ice cream cone bagworm based on morphological characteristics of the bag. The results of the census revealed that the highest population was found in block W60 with a total population rate of 5.62 larvae of bagworms per frond. This new bagworm report has now become guidance for identification for type of bagworm attack in PT Bumitama Gunajaya Agro, since this bagworm can cause serious damage with defoliating as other types of bagworms.

The research location in Krukut River along 12 km. The research was conducted in March - June 2017 in 7 sampling points. Macrozoobentos obtained as many as 23 species belonging to the 9 classes are 3 types of Bivalves, 7 types of Arthopoda, 2 types of Molusca, 4 types of insects, 4 types of Oligochaeta, 2 Malacostraca, 1 Crustacea, 1 Diptera, and 1 Nematodes. The highest abundance of macrozoobentos is 10550 Ind/m2, whereas the lowest macrozoobenthic abundance is 850 Ind/m2. The range of Diversity Index (H') 0.32 - 1.80, Similarity Index (E) 0.58-1.07 and Dominance Index (C) 0.40-0.63. Therefore the result shows that Krukut River is in category medium pollution.
