Lore Of The Iron Fist

In all fanfiction wherin Lasya Mars, Chesa Mars, and Mason Albeck are included,I disregard the Netflix Series The Iron Fist and The Defenders. The lore is purely exaggerated and based off of marvel’s comic book character, the Iron Fist, as well as the marvelmovie, Shang-Chi.

The current Iron Fist is Lasya Mars. A variant of her baby sister, Chesa, is the Sorcerer Supreme in an alternate timeline. Chesa often uses the infinity stones from her universe to travel and work closely with Lasya Mars as well as their good friends Y/n L/n and Mason Albeck.

K'un-Lun is a celestial pocket realm. It is the sister realm to Ta-Lo. Where Ta-Lo had a physical entrance found on Earth, K'un-Lun can only be accessed four times a year, wherein the gates materalize typically in the Kunlun mountainrange during four mnajor celestial events: The Vernal Equinox, the Summer Solstice, The Autumnal Equinox, and the Winter Solsitce.

That being said, the gates can materialize anywhere on Earth during this time periods. Several ‘lost colonies’ throughout history have have ended up in the pocket realm to which they’d grown to call home. Most people stumble into the realm by chance. At least 40% of the population come from the outside world, or Earth. K'un-Lun natives typically appear East Asian. The realm is sentient; this means that the land is ever expanding and giving to its people based on the needs of the people. Influx of population results in expansion of land. The dominant religion is Buddhism. The realm is relatively small, not even the size of New York City and its suburbs. The realm is governed by a council of eight elected representatives, eight being for each spokes of the Dharma wheel. The council operates with the Immortal Iron Fist, who is generally made out to be the bridge between the council and the general public. The Iron Fist works with a group of exemplary warriors; Eldritch Sorcerers, who are not associated with the Sorcerer Supreme or the Sanctums, also live in K'un-Lun! An elite group of warriors work side by side with the Iron Fist, typically hand chosen by whoever holds the title. Sorcerers in the realm use the power of their relics and their sling rings to protect the lands. It is this way that the Iron Fist and their Warriors can travel out of the realm without access to an open gate.

Whoever harnesses the power of the Iron Fist also harnesess the energy of the Great Protector Shao Lao The Undying; he is the twin of the dragon who protects Ta-Lo. Like his brother, he protects his home realm, but in a different way. Shao Lao the Undying gifts one person the power of the Iron Fist. It is the duty of the Iron Fist to protect the pocket realm and its people. It is a high honor. The Immortal Iron Fist has many duties and must follow a three strict rules:

1. Whoever so possesses the Iron Fist is barred from practicing Eldritch Magic; this means they may never use a sling ring or a relic.

2. The Iron Fist is forbidden from raising the dead.

3. And last, the Iron Fist may never be an Avatar to a God or Goddess.

The role of the Iron Fist is extremely important to the safety and existence of the realm. Only handfuls of young adults are chosen to be a mere candidate for the trials of winning the chance to face Shao Lao. The candidates are therefore eliminated one by one through a series of eight challenges, given by each member of the council. When only two candidates remain, they must partake in a final battle. This last trial is considered a holiday in the realm; it is widely celebrated and recognized as a major event. The final candidates will partake in the Last Hour ritual, where they are adorned in the ceremonial yellow and green dress of the Iron Fist. They will fight the total length of four hours and the last one standing is considered the final challenger. This does not mean that they have won the title of Iron Fist. This simply means that they alone have the right to first venture into the forest where Shao Lao resides. Only one can face the dragon, and it is considered the highest of honors to face him. Not all succeed. Shao Lao ultimately gives his power through death; his power shall go to whoever slays him. There is an urban legend that the Iron Fist will be doomed to roam the Bardo upon their final death because they partook in the murder of a kingly beast for power. Some consider the role of the Iron Fist to be intended for higher beings; taking the power for oneself, to protect the realm, is a form of ultimate attachment to the material world and to the ego. Many devout monks and citizens choose to leave the realm during one of the Equinoxes simply because they disagree with the traditions of the realm.

The Immortal Iron Fist is not actually immortal. The power of Shao Lao is immortal; upon the death of an Iron Fist, K'un-Lun goes into a 49 day mourning period. It is said that we wander the Bardo for 49 days after our death. Shao Lao is reborn on the 50th day, and so can begin the process of choosing the Iron Fist candidates.
