Have a question about something you read here?
What's been your favorite course and why?
My favorite course has been AEC 324 which is Agricultural Law. When I signed up for the course, I was interested in going to law school, so the class was going to establish some foundations for that. Even after I decided that law school was not in the plan, I still enjoyed the class because of the way it was taught. On the first day of class he told us that we would not be taught what to think but how to think and that held true for the remainder of the course. Even though the class was at a lovely 5 p.m., it was still one of the best classes I have taken.
Why did you choose your program, and/or how does (did) your program contribute to your career goals?
I knew that I wanted to stay in the agriculture industry, but I had a passion for business so Agricultural Economics was the perfect program for me. I am also pursuing a degree in Accounting because my end goal is be an accountant for an agriculture company. Having these courses and networking opportunities that the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food, and Environment has helped me find new paths that I can go down as far as my career goes. Being in both of these degree programs has helped me narrow my focus and find opportunities in what I want to have a career in.

What advice would you offer an incoming freshman in the UK Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment?
I would tell them to get involved in everything they are remotely interested in. That way they can find people who are like minded, enjoy similar things, and possible a similar career. Those organizations, especially those in the M-G CAFE will grow to feel like a family because that is the community we strive to build. I would also recommend to find time to find things you enjoy that you may not have found in high school. Take a workout class, journal, craft, do something that can bring you joy.
