Have a question about something you read here?
Tell us about the city of Lexington. What surprised you? What places/people do you like most?
Lexington has a lot of stuff to do. I have lived in Paris, the next city over for awhile so I know there's a lot. I love to go to Keenland. It is fun to go watch horses trace and hangout with friends. I also think there's so many underrated coffee shops around lexington. For fun, I also like to go to break out rooms.
Why did you choose your program, and/or how does (did) your program contribute to your career goals?
I chose my program because it aligned with my personal goals. I have always been interested in helping my community. My mom works here so one time I got to sit in on a CLD class as a senior and really enjoyed listening and learning what the proffesor was teaching. My career goals are to make a positive impact in my community. I want to do this through cooperative exentsion. My program perfectly aligns with my personal and career goals.
What's been your favorite course and why?
I have had so many good courses. I think my favorite one would have to be Community Portraits with Dr. B. It was about the social science concept of community and the various types of communties present in society. I enjoyed analyzing communties. I also love how Dr. B taught it. She made it incredibly interactive which I appreciate because those type of classes help me learn more. I have not met a single person who did not enjoy that class.

What advice would you offer an incoming freshman in the UK Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment?
I would say get involved early. Groups like UK CDS, MANNRS, CFB, etc. have all helped me adjust to college really well, I've been able to network and make so many friends. As a freshman it is really important to make those bonds early because I find it more challenging to make them two years down the line because everyone has stuff going on at that point. It's not impossible, just a little more challenging.
Have you completed an internship, job, or been involved with a club that has been especially meaningful to you?
This is my second year as the Treasurer for Campus Kitchens at UK, previously I was also a volunteer and shift captain for the cooking shifts! CKUK is a student-led service organization in the college, that focuses on minimizing food waste, improving food security, and bringing awareness to food sustainability issues in the UK and Lexington communities. This organization has provided me with so much and has been such a big part of my undergraduate experience. I not only would recommend that students find an organization that gives them such a strong sense of purpose and belonging but also for students to also get involved at CKUK. I've learned so much about our food system through the organization and its has genuinely provided me with so much impactful experience as well.
Tell us about your favorite professor, advisor, or other member of the UK family that has been especially impactful during your college career.
My favorite advisor has been DR.B, Nicole Breazele. She has been amazing. She started off as my proffesor then she became my advisor last year for awhile. She has introduced me to so many oppurtunities that I would not have without her. She is the one who invited me to help start the student organization, UK Community Development Society, from scratch.
