What's something special about the college experience?

My biggest piece of advice is to get involved and take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way. Whether it's joining a club, attending networking events, or even reaching out to professors outside of class, it all makes a difference. The connections you create, whether with fellow students or faculty, will stay with you long after graduation. Those relationships can open doors you didn't even know existed and help you grow both personally and professionally. Don't just focus on grades; focus on experiences, because those moments and bonds will shape your college journey in ways you can't predict. Make the most of it, college is more than just a classroom!

What's been your favorite course and why?

AEN 252, Fabricating and Construction for Tech Students, was hands down my favorite course. It offered so many hands-on opportunities to learn new skills in a supportive and safe environment. Throughout the class, I had the chance to try things I never imagined‚—like welding, wiring a switch and light, and even using a plasma cutter. I honestly never expected to take a course like this in college, but it pushed me well outside my comfort zone and helped me develop some incredibly practical, real-world skills. Not only did it give me the confidence to tackle hands-on projects, but it also showed me the value of learning by doing. It was definitely a class that left a lasting impact on me.

Maura's Top 3 Study Spots

  1. My #1 spot is Brevede, a coffee shop downtown. It has great coffee and the perfect playlist for studying.
  2. For #2, I'd go with the third floor of Willy T, the library on campus. It's the ideal mix of quiet enough to focus, but you don't have to be silent.
  3. My #3 favorite is the lobby of Ag North. There's always a friendly face nearby, and it's a great spot to sit down and get a solid study session in.

Have you completed an internship, job, or been involved with a club that has been especially meaningful to you?

Phi Mu is hands down my favorite club to be a part of on campus. From the moment I joined, I've felt like I've found a second family. The sisterhood is unlike anything else‚—there's this genuine bond between us that makes every event, meeting, and hangout feel special. It's not just about socializing or looking good in photos; it's about building relationships and supporting each other through everything. Whether it's helping a sister prepare for a big exam, celebrating milestones together, or just having heart-to-heart conversations, there's always this sense of unity and understanding. Being in Phi Mu has also given me so many opportunities to grow, both personally and professionally. I've learned leadership skills through various roles in the organization, which has boosted my confidence and allowed me to step outside my comfort zone. Plus, the philanthropic work we do is incredibly meaningful. Giving back to the community and raising awareness for causes like Children's Miracle Network Hospitals has made me feel like I'm part of something bigger than myself. What I love most, though, is how it's not just about the good times but also about lifting each other up during the tough ones. Phi Mu has truly become a space where I feel valued, supported, and empowered every single day. It's made my college experience so much more meaningful, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
