Rachel Ferguson is a sophomore Natural Resources and Environmental Science major from Georgetown, KY
Have a question about something you read here?
Why did you choose your program, and/or how does (did) your program contribute to your career goals?
I am open to the possibility of pursuing a practice in environmental law. Because of this and my existing interests in things related to the environment, I decided to major in Natural Resources and Environmental Science. Although I am still considering other practices, such as constitutional and family law, I know that if I somehow decide to steer away from the path of law school, I would be more than content to find myself in a career related to NRES.
Have you completed an internship, job, or been involved with a club that has been especially meaningful to you?
I work at my county's Property Valuation Administration office and I find it interesting when I see aspect of my Natural Resource and Environmental Science major become relevant in my work. My job entails a lot of mapping and there is overlap between the things we use to understand land quality and value with what I learn in my courses about soils and different agri-geographical principles.
