Welcome to Summer of Bad Batch 2025!
I can't even tell you how excited I am to launch into the second year of this challenge!
But what is this challenge all about? Lemme tell ya...
Summer of Bad Batch is a 12 week, multi-media prompt challenge focusing on Star Wars: The Bad Batch characters.
Every Monday throughout the "summer" (June - August), a prompt and an alternate prompt will be released for your consideration...you can then fill one (or both!) of those prompts through fanfic, fanart, memes, mood boards, GIF sets, etc., etc., etc,...
The focus of this event isn't quantity or quality - it's about having fun and doing something you love within an amazing community -
HOWEVER being challenged is also part of the fun!
That is why participants can achieve one of the following three levels by the end of the event...PARTICIPANT
(completed 1-11 prompts during the event)
COMPLETIONIST
(completed 12-23 prompts during the event)
OVERACHIEVER
(completed 24+ prompts during the event)
Badges will be awarded to each category to share your greatness...and if you're on Tumblr, you'll get a chance to be included in a post with all the other participants in your category (along with a link your master list/post if you'd like!)

Helloooo! I'm Kyber. I've been writing fanfiction for almost 20 years of my life...and I love community!(I've written fanfiction for Bonanza, Psych, Adam 12, Star Trek: The Original Series, To Kill a Mockingbird, Frozen, Encanto, Blue Bloods, Agents of SHIELD, the MCU, and, of course, Star Wars: The Bad Batch and Clone Wars.)Star Wars is the fandom that got me started in fandom communities, and I have loved getting to meet and know so many amazing people that share my interests and love for creating fandom content!I've been creating for the Bad Batch since 2023, but I've been enjoying Star Wars content since forever (although I didn't become a die-hard fan until 2016 thanks to my then-boyfriend/now-husband). When will prompts be released?
Prompts will be released every Monday at 12:05 a.m., CSTThe exception being the first week when the prompt(s) will be released on Sunday, June 1st!
What if I don't understand a prompt?
Send me a message or an Ask on Tumblr! I'd be happy to help ☺️
Do the prompt fills have to be about/include the Bad Batch?
Yes, the Batch should be the focus of your prompt fills!
(for clarification, the Batch includes:
Hunter, Tech, Wrecker, Crosshair, Echo, Omega, and Batcher)
Do fills have to take place during the Bad Batch series?
Nope!Cadet Batch, Clone Wars Era Batch, Bad Batch Series Batch, Post Season 3 Batch, AU Batch...as long as a member of the Batch is the focus of your fill, it is welcome!
What kind of content is allowed?
I'm not here to police content.
You can create whatever you'd like!The event blog itself will be a SFW / PG / Family Friendly environment - so any reblogs I do will have to fit that criteria. I want the blog to be a safe space for everyone!All content is allowed in the Ao3 collection - just be sure to properly tag your fills out of consideration for your fellow fandom enthusiasts!
What kind of media can I use to fill prompts?
Oooh! Fanfiction, Fanart, GIFS, mood boards, etc, etc, etc.A galaxy far, far away is the limit, my friends!
Will you reblog prompt fills on the Tumblr Event Blog?
Yes!I will do my very best to reblog prompt fills that fall within the rating/ reblogging parameters!The blog is will be a family friendly environment ... so I'll only reblog PG / SFW content to the event blog.(You can check out the "Rules" section for more specific guidelines!)
Do I have to fill the prompt(s) within the week it is released?
Nope!You can fill prompts whenever you'd like throughout the event!The only "deadline" is the end of the event -- anything created by August 31st will count toward your status as a Participant, Completionist, or Overachiever.
Can I only use one prompt per fill?
Nope again!
In fact, you are encouraged to use as many prompts as you'd like in a single fill!Mix and match prompts to create a prompt sandwich that is uniquely your own...it will absolutely count toward Completionist and Overachiever status if that's your goal.That being said, you are also welcome to use just one prompt per fill if you'd like...this is a very easy going, laid back challenge. Truly, truly!
What if I don't like a prompt?
There will always be an "alternate prompt" available to use!But if you are trying to achieve "Overachiever" status...you may find yourself having to use prompts that aren't your favorite.In these situations, I like to remind participants that prompts are only supposed to give you a "creative nudge". Take a prompt and squish and form it into something you like!As long as you can squint and recognize the prompt is in there, somewhere, it counts!
Where can I post prompt fills?
Anywhere you'd like!
Personally, I'm only on Tumblr and Archive of Our Own (Ao3); however, you are welcome to post anywhere!
Do I have to post my fills for them to count?
Nope! You don't have to post your fills at all for them to count towards any of the participation categories.It's the honor system, so if you say you filled [insert # of prompts], I ABSOLUTELY believe you! 😉
Can I combine prompts with other challenges?
Absolutely! As long as the other challenge allows it, go for it!
Can I apply prompts to works I've already finished/posted?
If it is a completed work that you've already posted...no.If it's a "completed" work that's been chilling in your WIP folder gathering dust...yes!!If you are currently writing a multi-chapter fic, you can apply prompts to new chapters - that 100% works!
Will all the prompts be released at once?
Prompts will be released weekly.(On Tumblr: Mondays @ 12:05 AM CST)
(On this website: Mondays @ 6:45 AM CST)It adds to the suspense!
What are the Participation Categories?
Participant = Completed 1-11 PromptsCompletionist = Completed 12 - 23 PromptsOverachiever = Completed 24+ Prompts**There may be bonus prompts released throughout the event!

I'm excited to reblog fills to the event blog!There's just a few things you need to know in order for your fill to be considered eligible for reblogging 🙃
#1: Fills must be PG Rated / SFW to be reblogged by the event blog
If the content could be in the literal show, it can be on the blog!Just like last year, the blog is going to be a family friendly environment ❤️
#2: Keep the swears mild...
Again, if it could be in the literal TV show, it can be on the blog!Star Wars swears absolutely welcome!
#3: Make sure to tag your fills so I can find them!

I am very mindful about what I reblog. I do not do it lightly, because I truly want the event to be a family friendly environment. So if a fill makes me uncomfortable, even if it "technically" fits the rating parameters, I will not reblog.Remember, when in doubt, you can always ask me specific questions about what I'll reblog to the event page! I want this event to be enjoyable for every single participant!
