Formerly a practicing Investment Fund Man'gr (CFA Irl, USA, UK) within the British' Life Assurance &Pensions sector, based in London pre'1998. Then briefly Private Investment Banking in the Persian Gulf on contract terms. In the 2000s, a Macro-Statistician @ CSO.ie in Dublin (CSO Stats Office, Rathmines D06).
The artist was responsible at this time for the official & technical classification of the wonderful Tyrone Guthrie Arts Centre (Monaghan Co. Ulster) as an additional & unknown Island of Ireland' Cross-Border Body. The statistical work of classification may/may-not now survive (pls see below*, there was a certain un-welcomed & most unplanned instant-resignation event in the CSO in the 2012'year Annual cycle). As for the much appreciated TGC-Tyrone Guthrie's status now, IDK!. I can illuminate further below this amusing & possibly artful twist in life (see CV).
More lately an amateur historian &genealogist. Since 2017/2020 a '2D+ dimensional' slide-projection media portraitist. The effort continues today within the Government funded 'Misty Blue' home-studio practice behind many artistic submissions (the artist had indulged mild creative & artistic expression thro life). Recent submissions to open competition incl., NGI-Zurich Portrait Prize'2020, RHA's 191st &193rd Opens' 2021 &2023, the M&C Saatchi Art4Change Prize 2022 and later GB entries, & Royal Ulster Academy Belfast's Open'2023. Artwork submissions continued until end 2024, as yet un-called.
Graduated 1976 Univ. of Dublin' TCD -Trinity College (BBS), and thereafter while in City of London, IIMR-Investment Institute/CFA-UK and LBS-London Business School (Regents Park, Diploma' Portfolio Management). Generally and more non-professionally in recent years an Assoc member of VAI (Ireland), friend of NGI, RHA, CFAI & the ever-friendly but encroaching VHI. Also more casual memberships of both the learned RSAI & wonderful MHSI (guys mainly), & previously former long subscribed memberships to genealogical IGRS' GSI' & IFHS'. In best of times the applicant is a keen diner at RAC Club' Pall Mall, in & out as member thrice over in up & down fashion while wrestling with greasy career-pole.

Dined out occasionally also to recover from shock of what passes as saleable 2+3D post-modernist 20th/21st Century Art in much Western metropolitan gallery exhibition (& Orient ditto). Having been affronted too often by what passes as commercial Artwork & the horrors of the wider Art market's Installation & Visual Arts offerings in recent times, this artist despaired. Artist resolved when life permits to make artistic contribution for oneself, sometime. This mainly by standard means of posed self-fabricated home-studio slide-mounted projection-type portraiture for screen illumination. The prospect's likelihood of coming to fruition only when life good enough & circumstance allowed -recent years only. A petit-manifesto as contextual brief is available @ websites' Artwork'00.
Artist's primary view is that the better of our acceptable modernist' styled efforts (as admired among recent non-traditional artistic works), can appeal' amuse and even enlighten, yet not quite threaten to educate or corrupt their catchment audience. This valued general audience can all too easily & evidently be alienated, and maybe go or be-gone for good. So therefore, our post-modernist & more contemporary Visual Arts, in a busy world, should have appeal to eye, mind & spirit as one.
Visual Arts should hold interest & be comprehendible & relevant to some (if not all), be mostly un-hidden on 1st view, &hopefully mildly enjoyable or insightful. It may be provocative on certain occassions if justifiable. In summary, most contemporary types of visual artistic effort should be "relate'able" &100% sustainable in practice to & for the general public audience, whether educated or not-so-long educated. Ideally it should not be too off-putting or repulsive to a rushed, stressed & distracted everyday catchment population. Our contemporary artworks & the visually creative artistic effort expended, like that of our lasting musical compositions, must have some popular acceptance to endure. They should appeal to eye, mind &spirit as one (rpt).

Misty Blue Portraiture in Light' Fog &Dust.
Misty Blue Portraiture in Light' Fog &Dust, relating to 3 Artists/Specialist Wardens 'in situ' on Scheldt Estuary & Wetlands for Hydromedia Residency.
Artwork Theme: The artist's application comprises an evolving Artwork, this latest is a revised 6th edition for the 193rd RHA Annual Open Exhibition (the 200th Anniversary, this submission, 2nd time round). The triple-entry piece consists of a short sequence of multi-image portrait projections. The images are magnified and illuminated to either a Diptych or single-canvas screen as medium for exhibition display (both forms together also possible). The solo portraits are intended to be spartan or stark in their representation of standard Passport-like images, they are simple and monochromatic in appearance, all posed and composed in a non-distinctive egalitarian setting. The projection transparency imaging is of simple mobile-phone e'portraits, these then being fabricated and fix-printed in studio. The 'Misty' fragility and nature of the portraiture is to reflect and message their subjects uncertainty of future (and all humanity's future) and the doubt surrounding our prospective survival on this 'Blue' Planet. The imaging collectively in sequence is an environmentalist's statement of raw fact, we may be expiring toward a slow extinction.
