This study evaluates Bajaj transport system in Hossana town which is the best way to improve mobility and to improve challenges facing the current transport situation of the town. The objectives of the study are: Evaluating services obtained by Bajaj transport system in terms of accessibility and availability, evaluating affordability or payment problem, identifying factors that affect the quality of Bajaj transport system in Hossana town, and Suggest solution to improve Bajaj transport system. The performance of Bajaj transport system was evaluated in terms of accessibility, affordability, quality, availability. The data from selected route passengers indicated that the town passengers are walking 18.125 minutes to get Bajaj. From questionnaire survey 41.66 percent of respondents do not get Bajaj as they reach to Baja station. Also, on average passengers wait 17.291 minutes to get Bajaj at Bajaj stations. This implies that transportation is relatively inaccessible and less available to the town residents as compared to other cities in Ethiopia. Also, it is difficult to say that there is improvement on the payment problem (affordability) where the system helps Bajaj drivers to exploit the poor.

The following activites was takento achieve the objective; collection of data, reviewing sidewalk construction practices and performance problems reported from authorized guidelines, and a field reconnaissance. The study has developed its research framework through combining different methodologies include literature survey and questioner on the four selected road segments. The data in thisstudy was collected through questionaries' prepared to meet the defined objectives, and site survey and analyzed using tables, charts, and different graphs. This study also offered an alternative model for evaluating pedestrian level of service at the sidewalk with street vendor activities. Variables in the model include pedestrian perceptions of walking condition based on site surveys as well as the pedestrian traffic flow and pedestrian behavior as the impact of street vendor activities. Factor analysis is used to summarize pedestrian perceptions into several important variables. Finally, along with pedestrian traffic data, regression models are estimated to find level of service as a function of the pedestrian perceptions of comfort and problem caused by vendor activities, pedestrian volume, and the number of pedestrians.

For the purpose of comparative study, the SSI depth is varied by 0m, 1m, 3m, and 5m. To consider this case the foundation soil of firm soil, soil class-A and the soft soil, soil class-C is used to comparative study. By considering rigid foundation, the soil can be replaced by a set of equivalent springs and dashpots in the inertial interaction analysis. The soil structure interaction can be modeled by using equivalent static spring modeling method and static stiffness of spring can be calculated by using the supporting soil properties. Performance measure of flow parameters was at the operational period of the road. Therefore, this work examined the 2-way 2-lane roads with various performance measures. The capacity of mid blocks was also determined by plotting capacity curves and the level of service arrived and Sidra Intersection 5.1 tools were used for the analysis. All midblock evaluated with different performance measures both in current and future conditions with basic considerations. Two most important parameters that govern the pavement design are soil sub-grade and traffic loading. ERA manual for the design of flexible pavements use soil subgrade strength in terms of California Bearing Ratio (CBR) and traffic loading in terms of million standard axles (ESA). For the design of rigid pavements uses ESA in millions it doesn't depend on the soil subgrade level. To compare the cost of two types of pavements, it is necessary to ensure that they are designed for the design parameters but the design period of rigid pavement is twice the design period of flexible pavement, so this paper tries to cover design criteria and procedure for design of rigid pavement and compares the flexible and rigid pavements in various parameters and conditions and forward engineering ideas.
