Our Purpose
The Land Back Foundation is a national Impact fund that facilitates the transfer of land and property wealth back to First Nations people in this country now known as ‘Australia’.
To truly redress the past and the present we have to go back to the roots.
We empower individuals, communities and corporations to participate in cultural and economic justice for First Nations.
We work toward the healing, honouring and respecting of past and present injustice to build a more equitable land & housing base for present and future generations.
We provide educational resources for conversations that promote shared social responsibility, acknowledgement, reckoning, accountability and redress.
Country First
We are located, therefore we are. The land is our past, our present, and our future.
First Nations Governance
First Nations People govern the Land Back Foundation Ltd with a constitution that protects majority decision-making by First Nations people.
The Board uses a consensus decision-making policy and process and embeds First Nations Terms of Reference in all decision-making processes.
The Land Back Foundation grants and products are co-designed and co-created with First Nations communities.
The Land Back Foundation is Not For Profit Company Limited by Guarantee (Ltd) to build First Nations land and housing justice.
We have DGR 1 status with the ATO and are registered as a national charity through the ACNC.
We are also verified by People and Planet First, a global verification for our products.
Relational Ethic
Aboriginal Terms of Reference guide every aspect of our work, it is working in relational ways. We work with attentiveness to the patterns, contingencies and obligations that we have with each other and the land.
We support a worldview that exists beyond paradigms and systems, whilst working within the systems to make change.
Cultural Integrity
We operate with transparency and accountability, the highest governance standards and ethics.
Land is Love
Country is more than land - it is a living, breathing entity that holds our stories, spirits, and cultures. Country is family, a source of identity, and a provider of life. This deep connection has supported us for over 65,000 years.
The Land is Love campaign is your way to make a difference. By participating, you can honour this connection and recognise the Traditional Custodians of the land on which your business operates. You will also be providing a reminder to your staff and local community.
At the same time, you’ll be contributing vital funding to support First Nations communities, including projects focused on housing, land restoration, and cultural education.
