I was just thinking about how adorable it is that humans write au fanfiction. Like: Wow I love these two characters and their relationship so much so;

Let them fall in love as mermaids, as spies, as pirates and vampires, in space, in medieval times, in a zombie apocalypse, as hockey players and figure skaters, at a flower shop or coffee shop, the list could go on forever

I like to think of fanfiction collectively as a multiverse where all of these stories happen and they fall in love over and over again in many different lifetimes because I’m a sap like that

Sincerely, me who just got told that my writing feels like watching a blockbuster movie. I don't care if they were sincere or not, I'll be thinking about that comment for the rest of my life and every time I feel bad about my art, I'll remember that someone once liked it.

When It Lands

Kagurabachi, E rating, Shiba/Azami

Like someone else is pulling the strings, Azami follows Shiba’s footsteps out to the porch. He wades through a plume of smoke that stings his eyes and watches with fascination as his own hand reaches out, plucks the barely-smoked cigarette from Shiba’s lips, and tosses it into the street three stories below. Shiba jerks back from his hand with a yelp but otherwise says nothing. He takes another step forward, and Shiba keeps the distance until he's backed against the rail. Azami doesn’t crowd him any further. The humid night air rests heavy and still between them, waiting. “I don’t want to stick my tongue in an ashtray tonight.” “Then don’t use tongue.”

This is the first explicit fic I've ever written, definitely a departure from my usual fare and a really interesting experiment! Don't expect to see more of this on my AO3, though.

That said if you're not into smut and you see this, no you didn't and I love you for that.
