Again, I don’t hate Morgan. But her fanbase hating Riri Williams and making Morgan as Ironheart makes me uneasy. I know (white) Iron-Man fans don’t like Riri, but she’s comic book canon as Tony’s legacy. Even though she’s only been in Marvel comics for 3 years, her 3 years has more development than a little kid who’s only been in a 3 hour movie for a few minutes. Just because Morgan is white and she’s lucky to share Tony’s blood doesn’t mean she’s quality to be Tony’s legacy. Marvel comics taught us bloodline privilege is irrelevant. AI!Tony gave her the name Ironheart because her best friend Natalie was shot in the heart by gangsters. If anyone actually read the comics instead of alt-righters on Youtube, her story is about working-class black America experiencing gang violence in Chicago. Why I can’t see a white rich girl like Morgan who was never exposed to violence be Ironheart. Same reason why there shouldn’t be a white wealthy man as Luke Cage.
Hated characters never stop MCU from giving them a chance. Comic-book fans hated Sam as Captain America, Jane as Thor, Kate Bishop as Hawkeye, yet all of them are confirmed for Phase 4. Fanboys bashed Captain Marvel for months but MCU are making sequels about her (with Kamala Khan as Ms. Marvel who was also hated). So the racism again Riri and favoritism towards Morgan means nothing. Kevin Feige has been wishy-washy with Riri when she’s coming to MCU, but I see her coming long before Morgan as an Iron-Man. Marvel SDCC proved to they’re undoing the racist mistakes from the first 10 years and Morgan taking the title from a black girl would destroy their plan. Exploiting “wokeness” for money? Sure. But still with both RDJ (twice) and Tom Holland said they wanted Riri as Ironheart in MCU, I can see her coming. In a thousand years, but coming.
I’m gonna lose a shit ton of followers and get cussed out, but that’s my honesty.
Personally, I think Riri could work even WITH Morgan! Like, since Morgan will obviously grow up to be CEO of Stark Industries, maybe Morgan could make the tech and Riri could use the tech? I saw a post saying a story scenario out of that and it was really cute.
