AO3 has been down all day due to a malicious (deliberate) DDoS attack. As a reminder, they are a volunteer team working on fixing this, so if you've been at all flustered, irritated, or upset today that you can't access AO3, consider this your cue to float them a donation.
Seriously. Mark a reminder in your phone, on your to-do, or however you remember future tasks. When the site is back up, send them a couple bucks.
Just sos you knows, AO3 is down under a DDOS attack right now. They’ve been coming back in little blips and then disappearing again. It’s been several hours. (For reference, it’s currently 3 p.m. eastern, July 10, 2023.)
The culprit (as with a few other DDOS attacks recently) is Anonymous Sudan, a group that is likely Russian, not Sudanese. The ‘reason’ they gave–that AO3 is “full of disgusting smuts and other LGBTQ+ and NSFW things,” is thin and probably not completely legit, though still legitimately concerning.

DDOS protection is expensive especially for a high traffic site like ao3. And it’s uniquely vulnerable as an independent site without ads or other corporate support. SPECIFICALLY targeted bc of its queer works and yet ppl will still complain every time they ask for donations lmao

-Gimmi is the original kwami, all of reality that is, was and will be was made by Gimmi.
-Gimmi created Tikki and Plagg as a means of helping shape the universe.
-Eventually Tikki helped with the creation of other Kwami concepts that help bring the universe to life.
-Gimmi eventually merged with the universe. In order to sustain it and grow. Gimmi had given the laws of reality that are what the world of miraculous knows. But before departing gave a piece of itself to Tikki and Plagg, so that should ever the need be, they can come together and alter something by summoning Gimmi’s power to an extent.
-But as Gimmi existed, so did another Kwami, Null. The taboo miraculous. The Kwami of Void. For Null is the kwami of what never was, never is and never will be.
-Null was powerful because it was in itself the antithesis of Gimmi.
-And before Gimmi created the universe, Null clashed with Gimmi. Their fight created the Big Bang that set the universe in motion.
-Gimmi defeated Null and sealed Null into its own dimension. Outside of existence.
-Gimmi merged with the universe and thus couldn’t not stop Null from finding some way back.
-Null poisoned the mind of a craftsman that knew the intial creator of the miraculous. Crafting the miraculous to summon its power. But it was sealed by the Order of guardians. Deep in the depths of the guardian temple.
-Null used several characters to help it get to where it needed to be in the finale. Free and able to enter reality.
-Marinette and Adrien used unify on Plagg and Tikki allowing them the powers of both miraculous, but also gave them access to the powers of Gimmi.
-Also The costumes were more Yin-Yang inspired.
With this power they were able to match the power of Null. Though neither side could truly vanquish the other
-The unified power allowed Marinette and Adrien to defeat Null by fixing the taboo miraculous and turning it into a sealing object. Thus sealing it away for good with the power of Love.
-Gimmi teleported Marinette and Adrien to the center of the universe where Gimmi thanked them both for saving reality. Offering them one wish for reality to come true. Marinette asked if there was a catch, as the way the wish is described.
-Gimmi explains that the wish that Tikki and Plagg give is them replicating Their power, and are bound by their understanding and must maintain balance. As the being of reality, Gimmi can simply will it and it will be. But does explain concepts like World peace or solving world hunger would not be permanent as there are other ramifications that would then come into play. And wishing for a perfect world would only be perfect for their understanding.
-Marinette asked Adrien if he wanted to bring his mother back. But Adrien declined. Saying that he didn’t want his mother to find out how far his father had fallen.
-Marinette did say they could wish that his mother never got sick. But Adrien points out then the events of the past would play out differently. Which Gimmi did agree with
-Adrien Suggested helping with her grandparents. Maybe bring them back and working out the issues. But Marinette declined.
-But eventually they had an idea.
-Gimmi grants the wish
