If I don't cry, it's not a good drama

@kdramacrybaby / kdramacrybaby.tumblr.com

I do a lil bit of live commentary and then a full review of the dramas I watch. 💛Masterlist💛 🌻Mainblog🌻

Welcome! 😁

So, I decided to make this sideblog for my kdrama stuff, mostly for my own sake. Everything has been, to the best of my ability, reblogged / moved to this sideblog. So if any of my older stuff looks weird, that is why. My main blog is @guardians-of-exo

As mentioned in my bio, I do a lil bit of live commentary as I watch through a drama, and I'll write a review after, where I got over my thoughts and feelings. I am by no means a professional, I just love dramas and thought this would be fun! 😁

You are welcome to recommend new dramas, and I would love to hear your opinions and thoughts about the dramas as I watch 😊

Also, yes I know that the majority of the reviews are positive, but a) I don’t want to finish a drama I don’t like at least a little, and b) I’m apparently really easy to please 😂

Hope to have lots of fun watching dramas with you all!

~ Mie ❤️

(P.S. I have a MyDramaList here as well if that's your thing 👀)

*DISCLAIMER: Please note, the admin team has made the decision to exclude Goblin and Hotel Del Luna from polls going forward (with some relevant exceptions). This is due to the fact that these shows overwhelmingly win every poll they are included in, making them extreme outliers every time they're in polls. And have had winning edits created numerous times throughout the duration of POTW. This will allow more fairness and variety in the polls and winning edits going forward. We appreciate your understanding in this decision ♡

🔁 please consider reblogging to increase our sample size.

feel free to leave suggestions for characters you’d like to see in the tags! as always, if you’d like to submit a potential poll of the week (POTW) question, you may send in your submissions here.

Ok so who's writing the fix-it fic where they run over the kidnapper with their car and the final episode is them talking through the whole his dad was the reason the accident happened (but he has nothing to do with that shit because he was a boy and living without a name in some remote fishing spot, having no idea they even exist), maybe getting some therapy, getting married again and half of thes story is them getting ready for the housewarming party and the party itself? We keep the ring fetish and the roleplaying ofc.

The Argan plot was unnecessary like wtf? Heejoo going to a war zone to find him and he finds her as a hostage? (the meeting was amazing, I didn't expect less than that, the talking about the feelings, the kiss, the bed scene) but guys? These minutes of the drama should be used in other way, idk. The main characters could fix everything talking and then being happy with their new marriage and other stuff.

Despite that, it is a good show. I loved to wait for every episode and be a little obesssed with them.

All the cast members were perfect, and the main actors were amazing, they have such a wonderful chemistry (okay Korea, you have to put these two to work together again in a romcom, pls).

I’ve had my “wtf” moments with this drama before, but I’ve been able to forget a lot simply because the main couple is so good! And I’ve actually been having a blast watching this

So explain to me, how and why, Baek I-would-literally-kill-everyone-and-then-myself-to-protect-my-wife Sa-eon goes to an ACTIVE WAR ZONE fully KNOWING his wife will match the freak and go find him (especially since he makes it so obvious where he is) - he told her to stay put, but when has she EVER listened to him before? Bro what the fuck?

“I needed time to punish myself” are you kidding me? You leave her alone for 6 months with no word and did not even think about how that would punish her even more than you?? Were you just gonna pop back up in like a year’s time and go “hi yeah I’m still alive btw, can you forgive me for being an absolute dickhead again👉🏻👈🏻”

This whole new plotline is so unnecessary? Like what are we even doing in this last episode? Did I miss the setup for this whole thing somewhere?

Yes his family hurt Hee-joo and her family in a lot of ways, but she knows that he is just as much a victim of that family as she is? So why the melodrama my guy? Has she not repeatedly told you she loves you no matter what?!

I’m actually so salty about this

They try to soften me up with the cute as fuck ending with the new marriage and cute ass name change, but it’s NOT working (that much)

Anonymous asked:

I swear the costume designer hates the actress that plays Hong Hee Joo, she always pick for her outfits that are either ugly or unflattering for her figure.

I don't agree here, I thought her awkward styling was on purpose to represent how unwelcome and uncomfortable she feels in the upper class word. Nothing exactly fits just like her life doesn't fit her.

Except the dress that her husband bought her, it fits perfectly.

Baek Sa-eon can't really comprehend that Hong Hee-joo is willing to match his freak, so she is demonstrating it through her actions:

  • When she learned that he was tracking her location after she fell off the cliff, she wasn't mad about invasion of privacy or anything like that; she just wanted to be able to track his location too.
  • When she came to know that Baek Sa-eon chose her as the bride for their arranged marriage, instead of confronting him, she pulls a reverse UNO card and wants to bind herself to him till death do them apart.

Hong Hee-joo, the woman that you are!! A true ride or die❤️

Manifesting more female leads like this in kdramas moving into 2025.

baek sa-eon: reveals big family secrets

baek sa-eon: BUT THAT’S NOT IMPORTANT. YOU CAN BASH ME OR MY FAMILY ABOUT THIS, THE HELL I CARE. MY ONLY PRIORITY IS FINDING MY WIFE AND LIVE HAPPILY WITH HER. THAT SHOULD BE YOUR PRIORITY, TOO.

he really spent five seconds exposing his family secrets and five hours publicly confessing and begging everyone to help him find the loml.

he’s like, “i can handle all these issues and problems, but i need my wife by my side first.”

Our male lead intentionally renouncing his very powerful 'adopted' identity and giving no name for himself—except that of Hong Heejoo's husband—has HUGE implications in Korean culture.

Due to their deep-seated Confucian beliefs throughout their history, women were rarely known by their actual names both in public and in private. They were know only by names of the men in their lives (this man's daughter, this man's wife, this man's mother) or by the title of their status or occupation. That still exists today to a certain extent. Also, women were very restricted on when and where they could go places publicly and had to hide their faces when they went out. The individual identity of women was therefore hidden from the world since they were not allowed to be truly seen or spoken about in a way where their unique defining personal attributes could be known.

So when our male lead denies his adopted name and powerful family status and then proceeds to publicly proclaim all his wife's personal attributes that uniquely define her—including a large picture of her face—while only defining himself as her husband, he flipped the traditional Confucian gender roles on their head.
