As an artist all I can say is PLEASE reblog artist's works. There's nothing more painful than seeing your post get some likes and no reblogs and knowing that nobody is going to see what you worked hard on.

i love Tumblr don’t get me wrong but I hate that to get reblogs as an artist you have to beg for them. “Reblogs appreciated!” “Please reblog!”

for newer users from other sites especially, when someone says "dont repost" theyre not saying to not reblog it theyre saying dont download and use it elsewhere without explicit permission.

hit the 🔁 button, leave silly comments in the tags. spam the reblog function and force all your friends to see the thing you enjoy!! you cant do that with a like!!!!

As someone who’s (relatively) new to Tumblr, I often forget that likes don’t count for much around here. This place was meant for sharing- reblogs are the way to go. Reblog everything you like! You never know who may find their new favorite artist/writer because of your reblog!! Always, always remember to reblog.

We all tell ourselves and each other that "notes don't matter, create for yourself".

But it's crazy how noticing/remembering the lack of notes on your content can quickly tank your desire to continue creating.

It happens to most of us, I think. Fortunately, some of us bounce back. Unfortunately, some of us don't.

also in the face of people deleting their blogs, that's another reason why you guys are supposed to reblog stuff. if somebody deletes a post, your liked version will disappear, but the reblogs remain. i'm insane about preservation and archival, every single piece of art i have ever enjoyed is reblogged on my 450k+ posts main account so if the artists leave I still have their work. i even tag things (though just with the main fandom tag) so I have years and years worth of fanworks saved that the terrible general site search will never show you.

please reblog art. not just to support the artists who make it and share their efforts, but also so you have your own copy of their works saved for yourself, and the future users of this site.
