my take on xenogenders

for the past hour or so i’ve been reading on reddit about xenogenders and i thought i would post here because i formed my opinion on them

as an autistic, i do not think that xenogenders are disrespectful to autistic people, the definition is the problem. the definition that is passed around is “identifying as” and that “autistic people cannot connect to gender” when that is not the case in both of those.

xenogenders are not necessarily genders, but is a xenic description of what gender feels like to you. an example would be how pink can be related to female and blue can be related to male, those are xenic descriptions. however, we now know as a society that gender and sex is different and gender is a spectrum. the spectrum part is, in my opinion, where xenogenders come in.

the correlation in autism and xenogenders is okay. this is likely a bad analogy, but i think it’s like how you would say adhd and autism are likely to be diagnosed together, but they are separate things. the problem in the correlation is saying that autistic people ‘cannot’ grasp gender. that is ableist and implies that autism is not a spectrum.

anyone can use xenogenders and therefore i don’t think it would count it as a transgender identity. not that i think people who use xenogenders are always transgender, but the definition of “identifying as” implies that.

“identifying as” correlates to otherkins and that is a whole different subject, but i think where people get confused with this is when people create xenogenders and put “people who are ____kin can use this” and i don’t fully grasp that. connection to gender is not an overall identity in my opinion, but if it affects your view of your gender, then i suppose you can use it.

i think the definition of xenogenders need to be modified and/or replaced. the true definition needs to be spread (and maybe terms need to be changed?)

pronouns are also different than gender, but i think you can use whatever you want because it makes you feel happy. though, i feel as if you use a xenogender, such as catgender, and use cat/catself, it could be more “identifying as” rather than connection to? but i could be wrong, if someone who is not otherkin and uses xenogenders that are animals would explain that to me, that would be fabulous.

also, in real life, i think people who use xenogenders cannot force people to use their preferred xenopronouns. (this applies to anyone who is cisgender or transgender) in a perfect world, it would be fine and everyone would use your preferred pronouns, but since it is not, i think all people should find pronouns such as he/she/they (or even it or xe? depends on the person and situation) that you are most comfortable with for others to use. most people are comfortable with he/she/they pronouns and it would help both you and the other person to be comfortable since people are able to have their own opinions.

i don’t think xenogenders are apart of lgbtq due to its definition of “connection” and not “identifying as”. all people, cis or queer, can use these. it is its own category in my eyes.

this is my take, i respect everyone’s opinions. i just don’t understand why people hate so much since it isn’t hurting anyone and certainly isn’t hurting themself. in my opinion, when it comes to violence with such descriptors or lgbtq, it shouldn’t be blamed on the identity but rather their morals or mental health. if i said something wrong, like the definition or something, people let me know. i am open to see what you all think! thanks for reading :)

okay so like i have my book plot where my two transboys have snuck out and got stuck in the underground city with all the talking creatures and stuff and i have so many idea for that like i see it perfectly in my mind

i’m stuck on what actually happens after them getting stuck and how they get back home

i don’t know what to do and ofc i’m stuck when i finally have motivation to work on this silly book 😒
