Chapter 3: Hope induced by Despair

You stare blankly at the blanket on your lap. Your mind bores into the white blanket on your lap. The room is so quiet and cold, like the air after a storm. It was somewhat peaceful compared to last night’s events. The servants have washed you from the blood of the followers, they had slip on a night kimono on your freshly bath body with hesitation, especially to the sight of your wet fur on your back. They have prepared a soft futon for you to lay on without you having to lift a finger or say a word yet, you feel hollow. You felt as if your soul had been chewed around before spatting into a corner. Tears can’t form on your red swollen eyes no more. You felt immensely tired. Too confused and too scared to do anything. You lay in a fetal position under the blanket. Slowly, with every minute, fur starts to shed from your skin. Your deer features start to slowly morph into of a woman and your hooves pop off to expose human feet. Slowly your deer fur shed into a pelt. The shame of being different causes you to morph out of your deer form unconsciously. Snow, all you can think about is snow. To distract yourself from the mental torture of earlier events, you think about snow. How winter is just around the corner, and how you would take joy in playing with snow. Even if your friends get tired of playing and go back to their shelter, you never stop. You roll in it, dive in thick snow, even eat it and enjoy the cool taste on your tongue. You would look up into the bluish gray sky, watching how the snowflakes would fall. You open your eyes only to see the candlelight flickering beside your futon. You wonder where Uraume is all this time.
