About Zooliminology

Zooliminology is a project created to explore the surreal aspects of liminal spaces and create hypothetical fauna that could live in them. This project is created explicitly to avoid horror tropes commonly found in liminal art and media nowadays and aims to use the more surreal, strange, and sometimes silly aspects that can be found in liminal spaces to have a different spin on the genre. Zooliminology provides a gallery of artworks exploring different places in creatures in the Far Plane, a plane of existence found outside standard reality.

Feel free to use the ask or message feature to ask further questions about the project or suggest possible pieces. However, please note that suggestions are not 100% guaranteed to be used.

Golbo is not for sale. The same can be said of any extraplanar entity. The purpose of the Zooliminology Project is to document and protect the Far Plane and its entities, and this includes selling them off to non-professionals.

This is the question that haunts every researcher, from the moment the Far Plane was discovered to the present. How does Golbo live? How does anything in the Far Plane live? Research on Golbo and how or if it consumes anything to sustain itself has been so far inconclusive. The same can be said of Princes. Princes have never been observed eating anything. They clearly do not have a digestive tract or any form of structure to process energy that can be observed.

How most entities function despite not meeting the requirements of being alive is still being researched.

Prince remnants in the Far Plane are not cleaned and so the only time cleanup has occurred is with the Prince under our care that shattered. According to our concierge, the amount of glass shards are her were left behind was in such a large volume that it required a bucket. This combined with what was embedded into the moss made the cleanup made the process, in his words, “bloody hellish.” New moss had to be installed afterwards for entity and researcher safety.

Whatever optimism can be extended towards this incident can be accredited to the Prince remnant samples we now have. It has allowed us to study the composition of Prince glass without ethical concerns.

[It mostly depends on what I'm inspired by. Usually they're based off objects or phenomena I find interesting. Such as princes being based obviously off prince ruperts' drops, and pelets being a combination of pele's hair and pele's tears. Scopopedes are based off of pinatas/ribbons and my own very mild scopophobia. Sailors are based off pool toys and slugcats.

I have a set of rules that I try to mostly follow when making them, some of them including them not being humanoid, not being too organic-looking, etc. etc. etc.

Though please keep in mind I haven't designed every entity!! dropletts and night skies were designed by Cactai, Maax were designed by Jaydan, and several submissions which were made by different people made it onto the blog.]

Contrary to what was stated before about hospice pills, no. Nobody who has consumed hospice pills has been killed let alone harmed. With proper planning and caution they can be not only benign but beneficial.

However, I would not recommend anyone but researchers to consume them, and even then they should be consumed with strict supervision. Just because they are not inherently harmful does not mean they can be misused. Their full capabilities have not yet been catalogued and considering they are transmutative in nature they should be regarded with utmost care.

Golbo is fine. The "tear streak" is merely a marking, similar to the dots found on the front of Longlegs.
