Hello

@oblivious-aro

I mostly reblog memes and other cool stuff here. I'm aromantic and sometimes I write posts about that, or just random stuff I'm thinking. Don't use the q-slur for me. Age 23. She/they

If you want to read a Danny Phantom (friendly Vlad's AU), Heartstopper (Imogen tells Nick she's aromantic), or Ninjago fanfic (Skybound sucks so I rewrote it) go here:

9/10 good plot twists are relatively predictable.

9/10 bad plot twists are trying to be that 1/10 shocking one.

Fanon Danny: Being half-ghost has alienated me from the rest of the world. I've been permanently cast out from humanity and don't even belong amongst the monsters. I struggle aimlessly through life, never able to make sense of who or what I am, never being able to truly connect with anyone, because of what I am. Isolated, adrift, incomprehensible. Some mysterious cryptid, no longer a person.

Canon Danny: Being half-ghost is so useful for when I accidentally swallow my utensils :)

hey everyone its april fools. but dont worry i dont have anything planned. just going to sit here and...

I LIED !!!! GET PRANKED

POST BELOW ME GET FUCKING WET

some people think writers are so eloquent and good with words, but the reality is that we can sit there with our fingers on the keyboard going, “what’s the word for non-sunlight lighting? Like, fake lighting?” and for ten minutes, all our brain will supply is “unofficial”, and we know that’s not the right word, but it’s the only word we can come up with…until finally it’s like our face got smashed into a brick wall and we remember the word we want is “artificial”.

I couldn't remember the word "doorknob" ten minutes ago.

ok but the onelook thesaurus will save your life, i literally could not live without this website

REBLOG TO SAVE A WRITER'S LIFE

You forgot the part where you remember the word, but have somehow completely forgotten it in the 12 milliseconds it took you to put your fingers back on the keyboard.

Regarding that comment you made a while ago about Minecraft's music creating unfathomable rage within your soul: I just wanted you to know this used to be a more common opinion. It's gotten buried in the nostalgia, but I remember a lot of people in my childhood thinking it was really plain, and only liking maybe one of the music disks. I still don't have much attachment to the OST myself.

There used to be a popular joke video named something like 'how c418 composed the minecraft soundtrack' that I've been wanting to show you for a while now, which went something like:

  1. play piano chord
  2. play basic piano melody

Unfortunately I've had no luck trying to find it for the second time now, because now all of Youtube's flooded with 'what made Minecraft✨the best thing ever✨'. (honestly, thinking about it now, there's a good chance it got deleted because of backlash...)

Anyways thank you for making me rediscover an old internet rabbithole and have plenty of Thoughts. Idk, it's interesting to me how the general public's view of Minecraft has shifted over its long lifespan, and I don't think anyone ever discusses that with regard to its soundtrack specifically. Once again my mutual wins at opinions👏

That was a popular opinion back in the day? Huh, I even surprise myself with how correct I am sometimes 😎

I've never really thought about the 'why' too much since I don't play Minecraft myself, just watch other people sometimes, and it's been a minute since even that, but it genuinely made me extremely angry whenever the music came on when watching someone play, and now's as a good a time as any to ponder why exactly.

Minecraft is a more quiet methodical experience, so I think you'd want more low-key music with lots of breathing room, and yeah I remember the music being basic yet extremely obtrusive with its stream of jarring piano playing. One of the main attractions of Minecraft is that you have this big open world to explore, and that constant staccato fills in that quiet empty space in the world. Yes, the space is vacuumous in nature and does want to be filled, but the player is supposed to fill it with exploration and discovery, you know, the things you achieve by playing the game, not cacophonous literal noise.

I think that's why I get so angry. The music kills the atmosphere rather than adding to it. It seems that it's trying to add to Minecraft's sense of isolation, but it's like when an emotional thing happens in a tv show, and a character is like "wow, that sure was an emotional thing that happened, huh guys?", and you just want to punch that character. The game already spoke for itself, you're trying WAY too hard to get the point across. Rather than support it, the music is tries to speak over the gameplay, which is a cardinal fucking sin in a video game.

Grr grr grumble grumble ragum fragum...

And yeah, it doesn't help that the composition is very simple and repetitive.

I hope that video is not deleted and that I may see it someday... 😔
