Sirius could have the whole world at his feet, but the only thing he wants is Remus Lupin looking at him like he’s worth something.

things my asexual sibling said i think Evan would say:

"you couldn't handle my dick"

"motherfucker do i look like the type to be sleeping around"

"he wants me bad tho"

"and she looked me in disgust because i said i was a virgin, like it was a bad thing. my bad, i didn't know we had an update."

"no because then he has the audacity to call me a slut, the manwhore himself"

"i get all the bitches, and i don't even have to get naked"

"so i posted his dick on my story with his @ and everything because why did you think you were safe"

Remus: You look worried
James: Well I have to tell Pads I’m dating Regulus, so I’m just thinking about how to do it
Remus: Just rip off the band-aid, Prongs
James: You know I don’t like to rip off band-aids, Moony. I like to wet them for a few days and hopefully they just come off in the shower

“So,” Barty said, smirking at Regulus as he settled next to him in the stands, facing the Quidditch Pitch. “How long d’you reckon before Potter makes an idiot out of himself trying to gain fair Reggie’s attention? Five minutes into the game?”

Evan, who was on Barty’s other side, chuckled. “Poor bloke can’t catch a Quaffle or a hint, huh?”

Regulus attempted to laugh while allowing his mind to wander to the night before. He’d been by the Pitch then, too, only a few rows away from the same spot. Huddled together with the very topic of conversation, whispering and laughing, their voices drowned out by the nighttime wind, nobody the wiser of their meeting. “He’s certainly persistent,” he muttered, making sure he was still frowning.

Ridiculous, is more like. Think he’ll ever realize you’re not interested?” Barty asked carelessly, rolling his eyes.

“He…doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon,” Regulus answered honestly, his insides warming with the thought.

And though he tried to keep the scowl plastered on his face, he looked to his left and saw Pandora give him a curious expression. Like she knew he wasn’t upset by the idea of James Potter being a permanent fixture in his life. Like she knew he was nervously thrilled by the thought.

“Barty, will you be sneaking into the greenhouses anytime soon?”

Pandora’s question made Barty pause, and he looked around nervously to see they were quite alone in the Common Room. Uneasily, he murmured, “Why would I?” He loved Pandora, but for some reason, being alone with her made him uneasy. She always gave him a sense that she could see right through him. And with all he was hiding, it gave him a distinct feeling of vulnerability that he despised.

“Don’t pretend like you don’t sneak there with Evan at least once a week to steal those plants you two smoke,” Pandora retorted, rolling her eyes and snorting. “Be honest, now.”

He grimaced, but decided not to argue. “What is it you want, anyway? I’m not getting another detention this week.”

She grinned. “Nothing horrible. Just one of those giant lilies. The ones the size of my head. I want to ask Lily Evans to the Yule Ball, and I want to give it to her when I do.”

“Oh.” He wasn’t sure why, but Pandora’s casual revelation of her sexuality didn’t phase him. It was very on-par. “I guess I can, yeah.”

She nodded, then looked at him thoughtfully. “And when will you be asking Evan?”

There. That was why he refused to be alone with Pandora.

“Wh-what do you mean?” he asked, trying to frown and seem angry while internally panicking. “I don’t like Evan! I don’t even like b-”

“I just told you to be honest, Barty,” Pandora said simply, again rolling her eyes. “Or are you still lying to yourself, too?”

The question left him reeling long after Pandora walked wordlessly from the room.

Regulus knew as soon as he walked back into his room from the bathroom that James was up to something. The older boy was rummaging around in Regulus’s trunk, completely wrapped up in whatever he was doing, wholly unaware of how Regulus stood, watching him.

“James,” he drawled after a few moments of standing there, arms crossed, staring disapprovingly. “What are you doing?”

Instantly, the Gryffindor straightened up, hitting his head on the lip of the trunk as he went, and turned to face Regulus with a laughably faux-innocent look on his face. “Nothing,” he lied, cheeks red.

Regulus sighed. “Potter, it astounds me how you get away with half of the things you do around here. You’re a horrible liar.”

The older boy grimaced. “Honestly, usually I’m quite good at it. I just can’t lie to you.”

Comforted by the thought, Regulus snorted. “Alright, so what are you doing?”

James frowned, shifting back and forth from foot to foot. “Promise you won’t be mad?”

“No,” Regulus replied flatly. “But tell me anyway.”

The taller boy sighed. “Fine. I was checking the size of your clothes. I know your parents’ve cut you off and Mum and I were going to go out and get you a bunch of things for Christmas. And I figured if I asked, you’d refuse.”

Regulus gawked. Of course, James was absolutely right, about all of it. Ever since his parents had heard about their relationship, he’d been written out of the will and keyed out of the vaults, as Sirius had been before him. He had no money, and he was growing out of his things. But the fact that James was thinking about that made him feel so…cared for.

He pursed his lips, trying to decide whether or not to be angry at the violation of privacy. But after a long moment, he just sighed. “That’s…too much,” he murmured with a frown, allowing James to walk forward and pull him into an embrace.

“You deserve it, love,” James whispered into his ear, pressing a kiss to his head.

He tried not to go red at the praise, a small smile flickering across his lips.

“Plus, don’t thank me yet,” the older boy continued. “Who knows. Maybe I’ll gift you a whole bunch of rainbow jumpers!”

And just like that, he was grimacing again.

It was one of those quiet, rainy summer days that made the entire house smell like fresh flowers and running water. The relaxing pitter-patter sounds of the drops on the house added to the ambiance, the natural gray light filtering in through the windows and allowing for a cozy, safe feeling that Regulus still wasn’t used to–a feeling he certainly hadn’t enjoyed in his childhood.

He tried to enjoy it. Soak it in as he laid back and re-read one of the novels he’d read a thousand times before, revelling in the knowledge that he could simply be.

But then, something under him shifted. His once-comfortable position was instantly pulled out of whack as he was moved slightly, his neck now craning to see the pages.

James!” he whined frustratedly, frowning and snapping his head up to stare daggers at the boy in question.

“Sorry love, sorry!”

The Gryffindor under him moved again, and Regulus felt his position return to normal. Sighing happily, he relaxed his head back into James’s lap, where it had been for the past hour, smiling slightly when the older boy moved one hand to lightly scratch at his scalp. “That’s better,” he murmured happily, settling back down and returning to his book.

But a little gagging noise broke his peace. “I can’t decide what’s more awful,” Sirius complained from a couch nearby. “Reg being a brat, or Prongs letting him.”

“It’s definitely you being a dramatic arse about the whole thing,” Regulus drawled, not even bothering to pick his head up again. But he did grin to himself when he felt his body shake from James’s suppressed laughs.

“We need to scare the shit out of him. Make him regret ever looking at her.”

Regulus, Barty, and Evan were all sitting in their dorm, discussing a 7th year boy who’d been incessantly bullying Pandora for weeks.

“So, what? We curse him? I learned a new one the other day. Peels the person’s nails off one-by-one,” Barty suggested, grinning menacingly.

“I vote we take his wand and lock him in a broom cupboard with a boggart for a few hours,” Regulus said flatly. “Makes quite the impression, I think.”

“Nah, this prick’s been acting like this for too long. We need to do something more direct,” Evan said furiously, green eyes flashing in defense of his sister.

“Oh! What about…” Barty started, standing up off his bed and unceremoniously throwing the mattress off.

Regulus gaped at what was revealed. Rows and rows of different knives of different lengths, some with blades long enough to be swords. “Why the fuck do you have so many knives under your bed, Barty?” he asked, internally wondering why he was even surprised.

Both Barty and Evan exchanged a confused look, but Barty then smirked. “Because we keep the fun stuff under Rosie’s bed. Wanna see?”

Regulus decided not to ask about that.

“You should know,” Regulus said softly, standing nervously in front of a stoney-faced Sirius, who was sitting in a hidden alcove, “I asked him to lie to you. To keep it from you, for the past few months.”

It had only been a few hours since Sirius had found out. Or, to be more exact, since James had caved, and told him. It had gone about as well as they’d expected–Sirius furious, James distraught, Regulus terrified inside but pretending to have it together. This was why Regulus had wanted to hide it. Because now, he knew, James and Sirius would choose each other. And he would be alone. Again.

“Why?” Sirius demanded, turning to Regulus, a tear running down his cheek. “Why would you want to keep this from me?”

Why, indeed? Because, for one moment, he’d wanted something that was his. Something untainted by the real world. Something safe.

“I didn’t want it to be ruined. I…I knew you’d be upset. I know he–he cares about you more than me…and you care about him more than me, too,” he mumbled, looking away. “I just wanted to keep something for myself, for a moment. To feel important.”

But, to Regulus’s shock, Sirius stood and faced him, arms crossed. “Reg, you’re an idiot,” he said flatly, causing Regulus’s eyes to snap back to his face. “I…you’re my fucking brother. And I’m pissed, and I don’t like you a lot of the time, but I love you more than anything, and you’re so important to me,” Sirius said, jaw set. “And as far as James goes…well, he just spent the better part of an hour telling me how much he adores you and how he’s pretty convinced he wants to marry you someday. So I’d say you’re very important to both of us. I’m going to get over it, too, I just…I just wish…” he sighed, another tear slipping down his face. “I wish you’d trusted me enough to tell me. That’s all.”

And Regulus didn’t know what to do with that.

young regulus that doesn’t even realise he has an incredibly obvious crush on james, he thinks he’s vetting sirius’ friend and just doing the required research and of course he keeps a notebook with observations how else would he keep track of everything, he’s following james around, one desk behind at the library unsubtly peaking over the top of the book he’s reading and ducking down when anyone looks over

Remus, whispering: I’m just a poor boy, nobody loves me

Sirius, James and Peter, appearing behind the couch and screaming: HE’S JUST A POOR BOY FROM A POOR FAMILY

Regulus: (says something sexy to James in French) James: (has no idea what he said but blushes anyway) Sirius: ( does the same thing to Remus) Remus: I don't speak fucking baguette.
