leo would NOT put his username as like "xX_fireboy_Xx" or wear fire related tshirts as most of you would believe, 😭😭 that's like if my mom suffocated to death inside a concrete wall and i put my username as "**~concrete-luvrr~**" LOLL keep in mind he does NAWWT like his fire powers. i feel like many people think he does ??
i know he eventually grows into appreciating his powers but still i feel like anytime he'd see fire-related stuff he'd think of his mom. he didn't even use his powers for the 6 years after he ran away, even though fire would be REALLY useful as a runaway who doesn't have access to readily available cooking stuff.
i just don't think he'd be so fire obsessed as many people believe. however, one thing he DOES like would be mechanics, so i usually replace fire motifs with mechanical motifs. plus, all the memories he has with tinkering related his mom are all positive.

Rick is so bad with time. He's so... so bad with time. He didn't know how old Luke was when writing the books which is why Luke had a crush on Annabeth because he thought Luke was younger, his timing with Nicos age doesn't make sense, he kept switching Hazels age in SON, and don't get me started on Hazels story in general??
She was birn in 1938 right? Grew up while World War 2 was happening. But for some reason Hazel... died when Wirld War 2 was still happening. At 13. Doing the math, it's wrong. World War 2 ended in 1945. Hazel died in 1951! RICK SUCKS AT TIME, PLEASE GET BETTER AT IT, WTH!!

Hi, i've read some of your posts about Rick Riordan's representation characters...i would like to know your thoughts on his queer repr and Solangelo
Hey there! Thank you so much for the ask! :D
So first things first: Solangelo.
- I am completely against solangelo.
- Will's entry in Nico's life was extremely jarring. If I remember correctly, Will came up to Nico at the end of BoO and said something about helping birth Mellie's child and asked him to touch his hands. Fast-forward to some mere months and they're dating. That's it. There's no "middle fluff" or development whatsoever. Plus, Will isn't even a character we know personally. He's appeared only in a few scenes in PJO, and this does not make him a good candidate for a relationship with one of the only complex characters in the series. Either you develop his personality, provide something other than "Nico's sunshine boyfriend" or give some actual good friends - to - lovers or something like that. I mean Nico's basically dating a dummy at this point.
- This brings me to my next point. Will has no canon personality at all. Like I've mentioned before, his characteristics are completely fanon. It is possible that between the release of BoO and ToA, Riordan got a little... too involved with fanfiction and decided to give Will a Frankenstein mixture of every Will character I've ever read in fanfiction - yes, including the bad ones. The character hasn't been developed organically at all, and we don't know enough about him to root for his and Nico's relationship! This is not a very immersive experience.
- Nico is a very complex character. And like I've proved before, Riordan loves to create complex characters and then "dress them down" (so to speak). He does not understand his own complex characters. This is important to mention because Nico dating Will completely tears down both Nico's and Will's development arcs.
- Will is never fully expounded upon as a character. Let's talk about Nico for a second now. Nico is one of my most favourite characters in the entire series. He's highly complex, and there's just so many layers to him as a person - and I love dissecting him. He has realistic flaws and realistic development. When Riordan paired up Will and Nico, he completely ruined Nico. A big part of Nico's arc at that time was getting over Percy, accepting that he's gay and he can be happy and accepted in the world, plus (added as a long shot but still present) healing from the trauma he suffered in Tartarus and being in Camp Jupiter, shadow-travelling for so long, his aversion to Camp Half-Blood and still (yes, still - it was never fully developed in BoTL) getting over the death of his sister, and physical trauma as well. There's more, but this is getting too long anyway. He has enough on his plate. It doesn't make sense for Nico to just ignore all of this and jump straight into dating.
- I am sorry to say this but Riordan and by proxy most of his fanbase seem to think that a character's wounds seem to get healed by slapping on the band-aid of a a half-assed relationship. So many relationships are going wonky in the fandom and the characters in them would work infinitely better without being tied down in that manner. It's actually disgusting - the amount of acephobia and arophobia in the books, or just the general amount of raving after being in relationships. The point I'm trying to make with this is that Nico does not need a boyfriend - or a partner, really. What he needs is to find himself. Right now he actually feels a lot like Eleven from Stranger Things. Both haven't experienced any normal human childhood, both are way out of touch and are highly traumatized by the harmful situations they are put into, and both don't need the relationship they are thrust into. Let them breathe and grow on their own.
- Last point on this, I promise. Yes, I've read the entire ToA and a few chapters of TSaTS. Nico is just being promoted as the emo-boyfriend of sunshine guy, which - have I mentioned I completely hate? It's disgusting. Plus not only this, to expand on the previous point, he's suffered a lot of trauma. A normal human reaction would be to step away from the demigod world, heal a little bit, go to school, basically be a normal human being. Poor guy's suffered so much. I think he deserves this break. This guy needs to get accustomed to the modern world - and you know what, this is getting too long. Anyway. The normal human reaction would be to heal, grow up, find a boyfriend in the mortal world. I've mentioned Valdez as a potential partner, and yes I do agree but this post is about me being against solangelo, not promoting other ships.
Ah yes, now for the infamous rr queer rep. Where do we start?
- Let's start with the most important gay character and my personal favorite: Nico di Angelo. The coming out scene. That was horrible and I hated it, and you get why. No one who's queer thinks that's a comforting way to come out - which is a deeply personal thing. Plus not only this, he's always treated like the gay dude who you can torture and get away with. I won't give examples else it will get too long, but you get the general point, if you've read the series. It might not have been written as that, but it's a coincidence nonetheless and a bad one at that. It doesn't promote "accepting of LGBTQ" much and antagonizes the community in the way that we now see gay people only as tortured, traumatized little beans. No. Give me the happy gays. Give me the sad gays. Give me the normal, non-antagonized gays. Just don't give me too many of the tortured, depressed gays.
- Piper. Piper's sexuality wasn't a good decision, and again, there was no development. It was just a one chapter worth of dialogue exchanged on moving away from Jason and dating Shel. Plus this was bad representation in the way that Piper was both a POC and LGBTQ. With this coincidence, we promote the stereotype that POCs don't deserve to find love in a white American boy (yes I know how this sounds, but that's just society, my gal). POC for some reason get highly radicalized, as if all of us should be LGBTQ, and none of us are capable of finding something that doesn't get us overly criticised and if Riordan actually wanted to value Piper, he wouldn't have made her bi. Don't get me wrong, I love Piper and I myself am part of LGBTQ but I really don't appreciate how her arc pans out, what with giving up Jason for another POC/radical femme. I hope I'm not rambling.
- The Hunters of Artemis. Dude at this point just put misandry instead of typing out every scene with them in it. Artemis was a virgin goddess, but that did not mean she hated men. This is an insult to Greek culture. She loved her brother and even had a lot of close male companions. Plus I think Rick forgot lesbians exist with the vow. Plus can we stop putting every aro/ace character in HoA? As an aro/ace person myself, it's very much so insulting to be treated like "if you don't get paired up as a couple you get thrusted into the immortal, men-hating, romance-hating secret super spy hunting club". I hope you get my point here. It was a horrible decision with Reyna and Thalia. Plus I think in a few myths Artemis did in fact have lovers in women, but I won't go there.
- Holy shit this is getting too long. I actually don't mind Magnus Chase being pan, that was again a good decision but bad development. I also hate Alex Fierro's rep as a genderfluid person.
- Not gonna lie, blitzstone was actually cute. I'm pretty sure it was the only ship I was rooting for throughout the series. But don't trust me on this, I barely remember anything from Magnus Chase lol. Only vibes, no thoughts.
- I don't really remember any other things at the tip of my tongue right now, but if I do want to add some points, I'll edit this post. Anyway this is getting too long. My main fight with the queer rep is that everything felt like Riordan was putting in minimal effort to make everyone feel included, and for some reason we are all so starved of queer rep that anything random can make us happy. No. It needs more time, more care, more effort. Everything just felt... wrong in a way that I can't convey.

yeah, it’s pretty dumb to vote for trump with undocumented loved ones. but we’re supposed to be the ones with empathy, remember? mass deportations are horrifying, even if those deportees have trump-supporting families. hell, i don’t care if those undocumented people like trump themselves!! i’m still against mass deportations!
