Season one has the purest distillation of concepts and themes, it’s been an increasingly muddied experience from there
NOT TO SAY I DONT love the way the show has so many character with motivations and through lines, it’s one of my favorite things about it actually. But the show isn’t…. Good(?) at doing this many plot lines at once. Characters are always neglected and I fuck you not I forgot who Titan was when he cropped back up for season 3 bc he was so neglected in season two. Same goes for Black Samson and Shapesmith. Literally what the fuck is the point of them anymore? I don’t know. This is why I suspect Rae is getting written out.
The Season one of a show will ALWAYS have the clearest most distilled vision of what it wants to be. It may not be the best or the most enjoyable. But in Invincible case it has the purest heart of any other season, it’s the most digestible and has a fabulous self contained narrative that had me begging for more
