“You look so hot,” his boyfriend sighs wistfully, clearly still thinking about the photo, “Wish you were here like that. Right next to me.”

The raspy note in Max’s voice is back, the way it gets when he’s turned on. It makes Charles pulse quicken.

Fuck it.

“What would-,” Charles pauses, swallowing roughly, “What would you do if I was there?”

There’s a sliver of silence, and Charles can practically feel Max’s surprise.

“Shit, baby, are you serious,” Max breathes from the other end of the call, "We're really doing this?" . . or: Max convinces Charles to try phone sex with him. It goes even better than expected.

ahhhh the dresses.

sooooo it’s actually members of the king’s council and the steward who force charles into gowns as often as possible, partly because they can tell how max loves them (they want that heir!) and partly because it makes charles look more subordinate to the rest of the court, really emphasizing his status as a war prize.

max is infatuated with the dresses, but he’s obsessed and feral over charles in any state, so he doesn’t insist on them.

charles has always despised dresses, but as he navigates max’s court, he strangely begins to think of them as his new armor. before he knows it, he’s often choosing to wear a gown.

(these gowns are a surprisingly important part of the narrative and i didn’t even realize it until these asks haha)

rumors, betrothal, or marriage- it doesn’t matter, no one even thinks about keeping charles leclerc for themselves and is allowed to live.

max doesn’t care what he has to do, war or not, he’s determined to stab his sword straight through the offender’s heart and watch the life leave his eyes.

And afterwards, he’ll finally hunt down his prize. when he has him in his arms, he’ll carry charles off to find the nearest priest to wed them so they can finally be together, just like max has dreamed about since childhood.

one reason i like this gown is because it’s so big one can kind of hide in it, which would actually appeal to charles quite a bit since he's never had to wear actual dresses this often.

and you're so right- max will love it because it highlights charles' beautiful face, but only teases what's hiding underneath all of those layers, because that's only for him :)

no worries! i enjoy reading genderbent fics occasionally (especially girl charles, completely agree with your take), but i haven’t felt compelled to write one myself yet. but never say never!

interestingly i find myself more interested in other pairings for girl charles than lestappen. i’ve been intrigued with some genderbent chewie posts and someone on here really got me with a genderbent charlando post recently.
